  • A friend stopped by to drop off a "retirement" gift.  He laughed because for my new job I have already clocked about 50hrs since Friday. Hazards of working for your own business I guess.

Anyway, he said this whiskey reminded him of me, 😂

Hopefully, the name has nothing to do with the association.

@Ozzie_Isaac - Silly me, I was gonna ask how today (your first day at the new job) went but clearly the first day is long since history!  The Boss rules.  Hopefully this is a long term win-win.

Just got home from the beach. 65 degrees to 95 degrees over the course of 4 hours kicks you in the nuts. On a fun note, the A/C in the truck decided not work this morning. Imma bout to trade that b!tch in tomorrow.

It is going well.  Won't see any monetary awards for a while, but there is a lot of areas to improve the workflow and ultimately gain time and money through leverage.  I am very excited, but working with this team will be a challenge because I am left brained and the team my wife has built is right brained, just like her.

    SV fail  :)
Four bags of char siu came out after 24h bath, One of them puffed like a balloon, of course it has to be the biggest bag ;(  Never happened before, not sure where I screwed up. Thought of posting "is it safe to eat" but decided to pitch it, not worth the risk.

Any time the bags inflate, it’s straight to the trash for me.  I once made the mistake of cutting one open.  Never again.

Actually I cut it open and stuck my nose in, didn't smell off putting to me. We then cut up another bag and did a smell comparison test, swmbo thought the ballooned bag smelled a tad vinegary and I started to agree after she said so! May be it's in our head but not worth the risk. By the way, the bag was more like an under inflated balloon, not super bouncy.

People never cease to amaze me

    I have a dog here...
very clearly stung by a 🐝 / wasp / hornet etc on his lips
Ummm are you sure ?? I didn't see it.. I think he's allergic to his water 🤔

Haven’t had a lot of wins lately with cases coming through the ER so thought I would share some of the silly crap that comes in.

Have a couple of days off soon… then I have a whole week off, no vacations, no travel , no nothing. Going to keep my arse home and finally tend to the things that need tending. Been on the go a bunch and there are a lot of home repairs that need to be done

Ah the very common, and often misdiagnosed water allergy.  Good thing you had her there to help you.

i don’t know fella after some of the cases I’ve had this past month. Don’t know if I want to touch my own pets

Had one professor tell us before clinics
1/3 of your patients will get better because of what you do
1/3 of your patients will get better inspite of what you do
1/3 are just not going to do well no matter what you do

im definitely in that last 1/3 cycle this past month

Sheesh if I had a water allergy my butt would smell like the sphincter of the devil himself and it would probably itch like a bad case of California Hot Tub rectal gonorrhea, other than that, I can drink beer.

Swmbo thought my dairy steer had a tumor on his neck. 99% sure it was a bee sting and it’s gone now.

That is no bueno, odds are in your favor for improvement.  Honestly, I cannot even fathom working in an animal ER.  That has to be brutal.  Thank you for being there for our pets (family).

Saturday my new pup learned not to stick his face in an ant bed. Fortunately just regular ants not fire ants, he wasn’t allergic, and his thick fur kept most of them off the skin.

  • Not right now but recently
    1) fixed garage opener for a neighbour: loose chain, travel limit adjustments, missing trolley overshoot stop, random power cutoff due to a loose terminal. ‘Rewarded’ with a bottle of Irish cream  :)
    2) swapped out a punctured bicycle tire tube, can’t believe it’s my first time! Guess over the years kids just outgrew the bikes, bikes got stolen or left behind, gave them away, just plain lucky, …
    #1 followup.
Intermittent power supply cutoff problem resurfaced. Decided to tinker with the circuit board using my IP heater fix > poked around with the heated soldering iron and touched up several spots that looked iffy. Yes, the same iron that was used with soup can for smoking cheese years ago.

That seems to fix the power problem BUT a new problem came up - the trolley would travel only about couple of feet then reverses, even with no load. Hit up Chamberlain's website and learned something new, the RPM sensor could be the culprit, never heard of such component in the opener. As soon as I read that I went AHA, thinking back to how I solved the treadmill 100mph problem.

Opened her up again and sure enough, as expected there were clumps of lint interfering with the sensor eyes. Blew off the lint and Qtip the eyes with alcohol... Voila! Thinking back, I must have deposited the lint there while removing/reinstalling the circuit board, the opener is only 28yo.

Hopefully this will hold up for few more years.
Good work. So much of home maintenance is trouble shooting. I have healthy respect for anyone who can diagnose issues and can remedy them in such a fashion. My father is like this, and I’m still working on inheriting his qualities.

“Rewarded” with a bottle of Irish cream.

Lol. It’s true that no good deed goes unpunished!

@GrateEggspectations thanks, just making sure I don't have to 'refund' the bottle  :) touch wood! For me it's not just the money, the satisfaction of fixing stuff is priceless.

My wife started having very high printer bills when she hired a new admin.  She asked the admin why she was printing so many documents.

The admin was printing every document, then scanning them to make PDFs!?  She had no idea you could just "print" and Save as PDF instead of actually printing.  She thought you had to print them, then scan them.  She was a high level executive assistant prior to this job.

My FiL prints any emails he wants to keep...then deletes the email, but that's generational with him.
    Love you bro!

My dad paper archives important docs and interesting docs, he doesn't delete the digital copy though.  He has binders full of interesting things.

Years ago when I went home to visit I found that dad prints my emails to him  (I can’t turn the fahking bold off thanks vanilla) and leaves them laying around for any casual eyes to read.

Our mail lady at a corporate job I had would print emails sent to her and hand write her reply. She would then put that in an interoffice envelope and deliver it to you with her mail cart.

After scanning she then calls the mobile shredding guy ;) You may want to teach her digital signature as well, for documents that need signing, lol
