Hope you’re only down for the count for a couple days at most there buddy. That’s been what I have heard from most folks who have caught the most recent strain. Not sure what part of Arizona you are in. But back in the mid to late 80’s I worked in Springerville and it would snow like heck there.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

Yeah, Springerville is worlds away from me. They get a lot of snow up that way. Flagstaff AZ, is one of the snowiest (3rd) cities in the US. They average around 100 inches.SGH said:Ozzie_Isaac said:Hard to see, but it is snowing

I like only being a few hours from snow, but not having to deal with it here. Like grand babies. You can go an visit, then leave when you are tired of them.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Can't really share this on FB or anything, but thought you all would chuckle.
My MiL is probably the single worst person I have ever had the misfortune to run across in my life. My wife's grandmother is who actually raised her (thank God).
Well anyway, my MiL is very upset with me and her daughter. So she introduced me yesterday to a guy who I know and have met many times as her "Ex Son-in-law". This was as I was delivering a bunch of stuff she wanted to her house.
I asked my wife if I should know anything, she said: "Nope, she told me I was no longer her daughter too." We all had a good laugh.

Thank you, and yeah, I feel really bad for her and for my kids. Fortunately, we have other great friends and family around us. Our kids have learned that blood doesn't mean anything without love and respect also. That is a hard lesson.WeberWho said:

@Ozzie_Isaac
Sorry to hear. That sounds truly awful. My mother taught me that people will treat you how you tolerate being treated. Not saying your M-I-L’s behaviour is your doing at all; only that life is far too short to tolerate toxicity, regardless of familial relations, and that sometimes, setting hard boundaries or cutting off ties is truly the only option. Accepting bad behaviour is functionally an endorsement.None of this is for you, but…
I’ll share that years ago, I made an exceptionally difficult decision to tell a close family member that unless they changed their behaviour with me, I wanted no further contact. I was entirely willing to forego having them in my life, if only for self-preservation. This was something I never could have imagined doing and to my knowledge, such severing of ties had never happened in my family. It would have created massive ripples. Years later, I now enjoy a wonderful relationship with that same person. They had taken me at my word and the risk of me walking away had them change their approach with me. Total, instantaneous 180.Currently have someone else in my life who has repeatedly been belligerent. It’ll hurt to lose them, but when you see that there’s nothing left to lose, there’s really no risk. When thinking about losing someone in this sense, we often think about an idealized version of them and all of the good things we’ll lose with them no longer in the picture. This is pure romanticization of the relationship. See people for who they are and what they really bring to your life and omit the people who consistently bring negativity and heartache. Absolve yourself of any guilt about the decision and never look back. If and when they want you in their lives, welcome them with open arms, having made your terms clear, and judge them on the merits of their actions.That, and eat bullies for breakfast. 🙂 -

I read this in college and it has stuck with me since then. I’ve thankfully never had to apply the last line to family, but have with friends, colleagues, and supervisors - and I’ve always found that after whatever chaos ensued - I was happier on the other side.

@Ozzie_Isaac that is a tough way right there. You will get thru the near-term and find a neutral place, I'm sure. @GrateEggspectations very well said.
I have not been challenged with that situation. My MIL thinks very highly of me and I may be in the clear after 40 years in that position. Now, if SWMBO thought as highly of me as her mother, life would be just great.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! My wife's a rockstar! She called me and mentioned that our furnace went out. She said, "I really wanted to figure it out before you got home from work. I've been watching videos and trying to diagnose the issue". She ended up calling the local shop and talking with one of the tech's. I think he was impressed with what my wife figured out while diagnosing it. The tech talked with my wife on how to diagnose it so they could save a trip out and us money. Next thing you know my wife is jumping wires with a paperclip and gets the furnace to kick back on! Now we have heat to warm the house back up for the next 2-3 hours before shutting it back off for the night. It should be a quick installation job for them tomorrow since my wife and the tech figured it out on the phone. I don't think they would have done that for most people. She keeps telling me to call her, "Heidi" from Tool Time.
My wife will even take the dryer apart when it shreds a belt! Now if I can somehow convince her to tackle my alternator on my truck this weekend!

@WeberWho - You are living the dream right there. I have no idea the percentage of population (female or male) who could achieve that outcome but I am quite sure it is well below 0.1%.
Does she do cooker restorations as well??
