I have a good friend who moved to Tampa this Spring. She is absolutely panicking, doesn't know what to do. Fortunately she has made some friends who are helping her right now, because the news sure as **** isn't helping her.Florida Grillin Girl said:It's not looking good here. No water, bread, toilet paper today at 3 different Publix stores. I waited in line for gas at least 25 cars long tonight, but was able to fill the tank. The news is freaking everybody out. Crazy if you leave, crazy if you stay.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

I use that one too and really like the hurricane tracker. I thought I only paid $5 for the upgrade. I didn't subscribe for the premium features though, that could be the difference. Either way it's worth it for the hurricane tracking.

If it’s good enough for BIL and his flight crew on the Gulfstream he pilots, it’s good enough for me. Stay safe Florida. The time to leave is now, not in 48 hoursTideEggHead said:ColbyLang said:@MaskedMarvel, it’s called MyRadar. I pay about $20 for the upgrade for hurricane tracking

I've had that app for years and never realized there was an upgrade for Hurricane tracking. Just dug into it deeper, looks like $14.99/yr.ColbyLang said:@MaskedMarvel, it’s called MyRadar. I pay about $20 for the upgrade for hurricane tracking

My stepdaughter and her roommate moved to Tampa (Odessa area) last year. A couple months ago they bought a house in the Hudson area. Given they have no hurricane experience and limited survival skills we've been suggesting they leave the area, which they've now decided is good advice. They are currently on the way to his parents place in NC, with three dogs.

I have a friend in St. Petersburg. She is in a non evacuation zone normally. She isn’t going to evacuate because she had 4 elderly pets.

Now projected just south of Tampa Bay for the eye https://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/atlantic/2022/hurricane-ian?map=5day&MR=1

That's good news for Tampa/St. Pete. Bad news for friends of ours who just bought a house in Venice a few months ago.Gulfcoastguy said:Now projected just south of Tampa Bay for the eye https://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/atlantic/2022/hurricane-ian?map=5day&MR=1
Potentially disastrous news for Little Gasparilla Island. Few people even know it exists because it is a barrier island only reachable by boat but I had an aunt that had a place there so we vacationed there a couple of times. No real change in the latest update. Tampa will still take damage storm surge will still drive up into the bay and it will still be in the high wind zone.

If the storm goes NW of Tampa I think the rotation of the storm drives a much larger storm surge, so South in best case for Tampa. I am not a certified Hurricanologist, just an arm chair weatherman.Gulfcoastguy said:No real change in the latest update. St. Johns County (on the east coast, south of Jacksonville) just issued an evacuation order for Anastasia Island (St. Augustine Beach) and other low-lying areas. I suspect that is overkill, but erring on the side of being conservative is probably the right thing to do.

Yes. Boca Grande is on Gasparilla Island. There is a road to it. Little Gasparilla is the next barrier island to the north of that. No roads to it and the houses are relatively poorly constructed. It may just be a sand bar after this.kl8ton said:

Stay safe, this looks very scary even from thousands of miles away. Hopefully, you all make it through relatively unscathed.
