Havent had the series 6 but the series 4 of that bardstown was great. I have a series 6 of the discovery series and not sure it was worth the price but its good also.lousubcap said:Pacing after a bourbon blind tasting that concluded around an hour ago with my 34 yo son.
The Bardstown Bourbon Company Fusion 6 Series was the consensus winner and the McKenna 10 yo anchored the offerings.
As always it was an enjoyable event.
A nod to @JohnInCarolina as the Empire of Pain is in the background. A great read. Only around 1/2 through but an eye-opening story. -

Regarding the chronic pain.. After years of the oral meds I agreed to get a morphine pump inserted in a pocket under the skin of my abdomen. The pump has a reservoir that held morphine, and a line was run from the pump, under my skin, around my body and connected to the base of my spinal column. It would automatically drip morphine directly into my spinal column. The whole idea is that you take far less medication to get the same amount of pain relief. Sounds great ... but I developed a hematoma around the pump and the wound wouldn't heal. My surgeon had me going to a wound care specialist every single day, and I had to pay to reserve a procedure room every time, just in case he finally decided it needed to be cut open. After about a week of that, I told my surgeon to just take it out. I was in OR later that day. It was bad, the skin was pitch black from the pooling blood underneath and the wound was constantly, but slowly seeping blood. I was genuinely concerned about dying from that whole thing.

I don't get buffalo trace. I got a bottle yesterday, and on the bottle itself is an outline of a Buffalo aka the "trace" but right above that on a paper label is a picture of a whole buffalo, so WHAT the hell is it, a trace or a whole buffalo?
Listen .. I'm fine with paying buffalo trace pricing for the whole buffalo .. but I'll be honest .. I'm gonna be really mad if I've been paying whole buffalo prices for just a trace of buffalo.

@pgprescott - all I know of Calumet is that the farm ( around 65 miles from here) is the home of the 1941 and 1948 Triple Crown winners Whirlaway and Citation.
Their thoroughbred business took many hits in the recent past but the fundamental farm/stable seems to be on solid ground today. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
I’m a fan of this 15. I also have the 14 which is sweeter, less oak influenced. I just picked up a new 16. Worth the price of admission imo. I have a bottle of the small batch (8 & 14yr blend) that I found to be ok. The flavors are nice, but for $80 I was expecting a bit from it. Finding it hard to pony up for the older ones. My regular stops have plenty bottles of the 14-16. Most of the online reviews I seen are mixed. Those who liked the 15 don't care as much for the 16 and those who like the 16 didn't care for the 15.pgprescott said:

I’ve passed on some of the regular offerings. I do prefer the Sam Houston 15 to the calumet but they are both plenty good. The 14 is a sweet bomb. My buddy loves it. It’s almost too easy to drink imo. Haven’t tried the 16 but I’ve seen excellent reviews from some sources I tend to line up with. Time will tell. Some of the more aged bourbons aren’t for everyone. I like the oak accents but it’s not for everyone. I think my love for Napa cabs influences me.saluki2007 said:
