That really sucks man. This pandemic has burned a lot of people out, no doubt.ColbyLang said:
Agreed Frank. Our kids principal sent an email video detailing why they had to close. She was in tears. This lady fought for kids in the classroom every step of the way in 2019. The stress of these last 2.5 years is putting her into retirement in June.lousubcap said:

Quarantining while we wait to see if any symptoms develop. Nothing so far.
My oldest sonand wife, with two daughters ages 2 1/2 yo and 7 mos and a well run day-care found out within the hour that the facility will close for at least M-W of next week due to staffing shortages. When you extrapolate the knock-on impact of these decisions, especially the school systems, it is staggering. One that is not given enough light. Luckily, I planned for that. Plenty big enough for a cot. Wishing I was building a roof too though.GrateEggspectations said:

Day 3 of the cast iron removal saga. You knew I couldn't leave this thread to @Ozzie_Isaac. The plumber had to set up for a leak test which was kind of cool. He had a 4" diameter inflatable plug that he put into the pipe at the end of the house thru a clean out that had not been glued together. After he was happy that the plug was secure against the PVC pipe he told me to turn on the shower at the other end of the new sewer line. Filled it until the shower had about an inch of standing water.
Then we waited for a city inspector to approve, window was between 8:00am and 12:00. There is a lot of new house construction in our area and not many inspectors. He showed up at 12:30 asked the plumber some questions, and then mentioned a termite spray requirement. He looked at the spray the plumber would be using and approved that. The inspector asked why the shower was being used instead of the normal 5' pipe. Plumber replied he was doing a shower pan leak check at the same time. Both leak test passed so he signed the permit, told him a couple things he wanted to see the next time and left.
Plumber removed the plug and watched as the water flowed by the clean out. That water was moving fast. We both shoveled the sand back into the trenches to cover the PVC and then the plumber used my water hose to compact the sand and get it level for the concrete crew to fill.
Then the plumber sprayed the trenches with termite spray, cut 6 mil visqueen plastic in 1 foot wide sections, and placed overlapping pieces over the sprayed trenches.
I only took one photo today, the shower area. Plumber built a dam from a 2 x 4 and placed it against the front of the shower to keep concrete from filling around it. He told me to inform the concrete foreman only fill to the line 4" deep at the back of the shower. You can sort of see the line at the upper left corner and along the wall at the top of the photo.Ubi panis, ibi patria.

Lasers will improve the delivery time and contents of the cargo. No challenges there with any renegade "shoot 'em crews..." What next? F'me.

I'd rather see Fedex, and all major airlines, install laser-guided ATG missiles, pointed down. Once a few frat parties are obliterated, the Shining-a-laser-at-the-pilot problem will go away. (I know of no incoming heat-seeking missiles taking down a plane, but I know of many pilots carrying passengers being blinded...)JohnInCarolina said:

Accumulated >8” of snow so far today. Packs good, so we built a healthy snowman. My wife had to help me set the 2nd layer. Learned the trick to roll the ball onto a large towel to lift and then tip onto the base.

Drifted a little on the back deck. 4yo wanted pancakes this morning, I was pulling frozen ones out of the freezer and was met with a very quiet but firm “noooo, I want you to make the pancakes.” I’m going to miss this stage when he grows out of it.

Not happy either. The diesel sounds like a rock tumbler this morning.

Pre flight check list , even with a drone, glad you got it backTEXASBGE2018 said:Well that was an eventful experience. Flying my drone out in front of my house the winds were a tad high but not crazy, or so I thought. All the sudden I see a prop fly off and up my drone went. Zero control about 400ft up. I immediately hit the return to home button and nada. Finally the signal comes back I see it's about a mile from the house over the middle of a pasture spinning like crazy and I am still able to see on camera. I look down see a pond, oh shite. I force land it next to the pond and then jump in the car to find it. I may have had to jump a fence who knows. Finally thank god for the gps I find it sitting unscathed minus the missing prop and a cracked housing on top. What a way to start a Friday evening.

Well, I was going to watch the recording I set up of Day 7 the Grand Sumo January tournament. Started the DVR and this is what I saw:

The repeated warning that a Tsunami has already reached Japan caused by an underwater eruption of a volcano near Tonga. Warning that more waves will be coming and not to be fooled because the first wave was small. Dang hoping for the best.
Edit - Looks like Okinawa the going to get the brunt of the Tsunami.Ubi panis, ibi patria.

@Ozzie_Isaac - I see what you did there. The Heidi game during the last 2 minutes of the 1968 Super Bowl. Lived on the east coast so I didn't get to see the Raiders comeback.

On a serious note, hopefully everyone is a safe distance away and damage will be limited. Tsunamis are mind boggling.to see what they can do.
