OT: We sit on the driveway and do Jello Shots as we pass out Halloween candy. What do you do?

  • I live on a dead end road with few kids living here.  It’s not worth the effort to pass out candy to two kids.  We stop by their place on our way to wherever we’re going and drop off some candy.  We ask if they want to come with us, but they never do.  This year our church had a Trunk or Treat.

This is may have been our last year.  Our fifth grader might not want to go out next year.  We’ll see.

  • This year our oldest (she’s 12) and her friend decided that it was a lot more efficient to just spend $5 of their own money buying a couple of bags of the candy they like the most.  Kids these days.

    That’s funny.

A buddy of mine told me he was teaching his kids about taxes this year and ate a third of their candy. Lol.

  • We are at the end of our driveway this year, sitting behind a table with candy on it.  The wife has wine, and I’m onto the bourbon.

We have handed out over 200 pieces of candy to trick or treaters tonight, and it’s not even 8pm.

The doorbell didn't ring once last night; the phalanx worked!

Our street is dark - no kids this year.  So, cooking achiote chicken. Scary!

We give out full sized candy bars.  This year the trend was lagging (even against the covid 2020 year) but got swarmed about 30 minutes ago-challenged the controllers to manage the swarm at 30-45 second intervals next year.  No longer in the lag mode.  Will declare victory around 8:30 PM (EDT) soon with outside lights out.

We live on a quiet cul de sac of predominately retirees. The doorbell has rung twice. Cute grandkids of neighbors.  I’ve placated myself and  picked through the candy stash and have been enjoying the snickers and a martini. Fifteen more minutes of Trick or Treating before the yard lights are turned off for the night. Contemplating another martini….

Hopefully you contemplated the right answer and had another one.

I bought two 18 count bags.  Snickers and Reece's.  I had 11 kids.  The early birds got neglected as I had no idea what to count on.  The last few kids struck gold as I tried to empty the treat bowl.
