What’s on the Menu for Halloween?

My Mom used to make a big pot of Oyster Stew on Halloween. It sent us kids out warm and satisfied. Keeping warm is the trick here in Michigan on Halloween because it’s frequently cold and rainy. So that’s what I’m making on Halloween. It’s made on the boxy thing in the kitchen. So what say you? Anything special or traditional on the menu?
We usually give out big sized Hershey bars to trick or treaters. We live on a dead end road that’s not in a subdivision so we get very few kids at our door.
Due to Covid, I haven’t seen a good TP job on somebody’s trees. I kinda miss that.

When kids were younger we used to do a big pot of chilli. In Illinois, Halloween could be 80 or 30. You never knew. The chilli was great on the cold ones.
I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Probably takeout. I will be traveling on Sunday and likely won’t get back in time to make pediatric dentists wealthy. Anyone need the KitKats, Reese’s, and Skittles that I bought a month ago?

Haven't decided, but our neighborhood does trick or treating in the afternoon, so we usually braise short ribs - the prep is done before it starts and is done after everything is wrapped up. SWMBO Jr has a get together at a friend's house that may shorten that schedule, so we might end up doing miso smothered chicken.

Haven’t figured out dinner, but I’m going to try my hand at making Halloween cookies. With hot chocolate for the kids, and hot buttered rum for the grown-ups.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

On the occasions that I hand out candy I usually buy a pizza. One “kid” asked for a slice instead of Snickers.

Oyster Stew. My favorite way to consume oysters. No idea about Sunday dinner as yet. Will be eating at my daughters, and enjoying the grandson experiencing Halloween for the first time (18 months).Fred19Flintstone said:My Mom used to make a big pot of Oyster Stew on Halloween. Like some others we haven’t had any t/o/t for 37 years! Reason I know that time? A neighbor who is now 47 years old has told me he tripped when leaving on my long DARK driveway and cried all the way home! And he was the ONLY one that year and for 2 years before that! I don’t think kids even back then, much less nowadays will walk the 160 feet down our driveway to get whatever candy we might offer!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

I’m pretty sure back then I was eating Snicker bars so I probably gave him one of my $.10 or were they $.15 clear back then?

Clam chowder here pretty pedestrian and the weather is unusually warm but I am sure it will hit the spot. Fred’s post definitely played a part in that decision but I have never had let alone heard of oyster stew. Need to figure that one out.

Double Tito's and soda for me at hotel bar in San Antonio. Was supposed to fly out this afternoon but got caught in the American Airlines cancellation $hit show this weekend. #stuckinSAKeepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
You definitely need to figure that one out. And if you haven’t ever had oyster gumbo add it to the to do list as well 👍U_tarded said:I have never had let alone heard of oyster stew. Need to figure that one out.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.
