Thanks Gents. Did a little time in the SV (more to dethaw the frozen steaks I picked up today) followed by about 20 mins on a 250ish XL followed by only about 40 seconds each side on the blazing hot coals.

It's been a busy week for me, coming on the heels of a week of vacation - no time for egging. I'm working from home today, though, and inspired by some of the guys (Ozzie...Nola...), I thought I'd put up a quick cook. I inverted the spider to get down close to the coals - the egg has settled-in at about 65°. About 45 seconds, no flipping. Thanks for looking.

@thetrim - and here I thought you had truly mastered the caveman for the entire cook...Reverse sear with caveman finish by my thought process. Regardless, a great result!Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. For those wondering, here are the guidelines for posting a cook: (Note the end date/time).
"As for the throwdown itself, here's the rules. It's *wide open* in terms of what you want to cook - just show us your best stuff. It can be a main meal, appetizer, dessert, whatever you want! The only requirement is that you need to use the BGE for some portion of it. And you should post two pics - one pic of the cook in process on the BGE, and another showing the final result plated or a "money" shot if you prefer. The cooks should be ones done this week, not past ones. We'll accept submissions until midnight on Saturday the 3rd. "
The real revenue generator is the number of cooks posted. So, keep 'em coming.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -

I feel unqualified to answer that question. I don't wok often enough to have much of an opinion. You can't shake it around, so it's all about stirring it around. I steamed the asparagus first and tried for 600 on the BGE. Made it to low 500s before I got impatient and threw it in. Three minutes or so and it was done. It was better than the chicken.caliking said:

I have eaten stuff right off my BGE many times. I say the grill shot and money shot can be the same shot. I liked it.

That thought ran through my mind, but I thought if would be "lame squared" if I posted a bowl of cereal and argued about it.The Cen-Tex Smoker said:
