Okay, I can't google "yukon" to find out, so I gotta ask a Dumb Question: WTF IS that thing? Some sort of grill? Ash sifter? A clothes dryer drum? A pasta colander? A carburetor part?kl8ton said:

Wife bought one of these Pampered Chef heated blender things. She was helping support a friends PC party. Curious to to see how well it works.

I know my Blendtec (as will Vitamixes) will make a steaming hot soup in just a few minutes just by beating the bajeeezus out of the molecules - don't need a heating element.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -

I have read about Vitamix hot soup, and it sounds pretty cool (pun not intended).HeavyG said:

Yes, this has a heating element in it, good to 220 deg F. I do not really know much about it. It was not even on my radar (a Vitamix was). I looked through the PC catalog and it was the only thing of interest. Do not get me started on home sales/multi-level marketing hooey.
I am interested to try it out. Especially the grind option for making peanut butter. I plan to research it some more and see what other things it can be used for. Over the years we have bought a few PC items and they have been decent.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Cap - wish I was a high roller. But let me tell you the story of the SL we have ( it’s a great ending). In January 1998, my wife and I were in Colorado skiing with a bunch of friends. On this particular afternoon, it was just the two of us. We were below Eagle’s Nest in Vail and my wife turns to me and tells me she has the most painful headache she has ever had in her life. I suggest that we ski to the side and get away from everyone. I did. Then I looked back and saw her collapsed in the middle of the run. I ski/climb back to her and she is unconscious. (I won’t get into details here, but it wasn’t good).lousubcap said:

A nurse who is skiing stops to aid and soon ski patrol arrives. ( a lot of activity here I don’t care to recall) The Ski patrol loads her on a sled and tells me to come to the Vail medical center. At this point, I’m not really in a great mindset to ski, but the nurse who stoped to help said something about staying strong, and she would be there for me- I can’t remember the exact words. The nurse and I made it to Lionshead in record time.We get to the Vail hospital and my wife is there unconscious with bleeding on the brain. They tell me that they are going transfer her on a helicopter to the Swedish Medical Hospital in Denver.I walk back to my friends condo and tell them what is going on. We don’t have a car and I need to get to Denver. Unexpectedly a strong storm comes through. The Medical center calls and they can’t get a helicopter in, so they are going to take my wife down in an ambulance. That is extra few hours before she gets the care she needs. My buddy and I are trying to figure out how we can get to Denver during this crazy storm. We convince/bribe a maintenance man at one of the posh hotels to take us down the mountain in his van. This van had no seats in the back, so we took turns in the back just holding on.
Four hours later we get to the Swedish medical center and found the doctor that had seen my wife. The first thing the doctor said to me was ‘what kind of drugs was she doing’? I almost lost my mind!! This was three in the morning after a crazy trip down the mountain worried about my wife...who does not do drugs. I was pissed!!!!
My wife had a brain aneurism that ruptured. It wasn’t good, but some amazing doctors performed brain surgery and amazing nurses provided care and saved her life. She was in ICU for a month after brain surgery and has had several procedures since.
Now let’s get back to the car. When we were dating and early married, my wife dreamed of a Mercedes SL. We couldn’t afford one, but it was her dream car. About two months after her aneurism ruptured we were able to return to Memphis and she was still recovering. I drove by the Mercedes dealership on Poplar. There was the most beautiful 560sl on the used car lot. I was a bit surprised, because Mercedes stoped making that body style almost ten years prior. I took a hard right and purchased that car. After all she had been through, I wanted her to have her dream car. That was 1998 and we still have the car and she is still doing great.

Great story glad it had a happy ending. My dad used to call his "my feel good car". Those parts are getting harder to find. Let me know if you need anything else for it, I have some pretty good sources.mEGG_My_Day said:For my 560sl

I'm glad everything worked out for the better in the end. I really like the car as well. My parents neighbor is a Mercedes guy. He had a new one every 3-4 years growing up. Everything from S600 sedans to their V12 coupes. The only Mercedes that never was was traded in or sold was their 560sl. His is a little darker blue. He has to be in his mid 80's now and he still drives it around town on nice days. I even had a toy model of it as a kid. I still like the simple lines of it. Neat cars.mEGG_My_Day said:lousubcap said:

If you are a user of Rotella engine oil they have a rebate right now. $20 cash back per 5 gallon bucket. I filled out the form online and had a check for $60 in a week. I think the limit is four 5 gallon buckets.South of Columbus, Ohio.

I've migrated to buying one specific oil and use it in everything (except where I have a wet clutch or V-twin bike engine:

Always shop Walmart for oil, no one can beat their prices. 5 qts for $22 Costs 10-12 more at most auto parts stores.

I switched over to Walmarts SuperTech (Pennzoil) synthetic oil a year or so ago for most things. I've read/watched tests that put it with other premium oils that are 2x the price. Pair it with a SuperTech oil filters (Wix) and you can do a vehicle for around $16.

All that matters is the certifications of the oil. A bunch of companies manufacture the oil, but there are very few that make the additives. It's very expensive to certify additives. Involves running the oil in engines under time/load and breaking them down and passing very strict wear and chemical analyses.

You are right. Back when I had my VW diesel, the only place that I could buy oil with the correct certification code on it was at the VW dealer or by mail order through Amazon.nolaegghead said:All that matters is the certifications of the oil. Ordered a 200A Everlast MIG welder, spool gun, cart with drawers, aluminum and steel wire. Have 3 old welders and a plasma cutter on craigslist right now, the new stuff makes the old obsolete. Should be coming in later this week.
