My heart is very sad for all of you that were exceptionally close to Brent. I'm glad that I was able to meet him in person and experience his unique ability to make me feel we've been buddies for years even though we had just met.nolaegghead said:I was on the phone with my solar panel installer this morning walking out to identify the inverter and it had been raining like a Mo-Fo. Slipped on my cement front porch and went down the steps and face planted in the front drive. Didn't miss a lick of the call.
Fast forward to meeting my internet installer at the shop this afternoon. Hey man, don't mind my face, just left a bar fight. He laughed, I told him about the face plant.
We're looking at buying a house around 8 blocks from us near the river, has a big staircase to the 2nd floor. Bridget is really concerned about accidents. I spent 40 minutes on the phone with Brent the night of his accident. I thought I was the last person he talked to but it turns out he talked to Nicole's daughter right afterwards. Nicole goes to bed early... I've stayed at his place with the stairs before.
So all this hit a little too close to home.
This is the first I've talked about that night on the forum. Brent was one of my best friends from here, we hung out outside of the bge fests, talked frequently and had a fishing trip planned that was never realized. My coping mechanism is to retreat and internalize.

If you have some say in the training and readiness program, look into the Stop The Bleed program by the American College of Surgeons. Basically teaches the use of CAT tourniquets to stem bleeding from the extremities, but can significantly decrease mortality from events like these.frazzdaddy said:

I know it’s frustrating but you gotta keep plowing ahead. Perseverance pays off. It took us over two years to find our place with a lot of headache and heartache in between. You’ll get in the right place and it’ll all be worthwhile.ColtsFan said:Submitting another offer on a house. Not feeling excited or optimistic at this point.

Several years ago the Security Police on base had a "real world" exercise in my building. Many of my coworkers were actually painted up and left to lie in death poses in the rooms and hallways. Those of us not involved in the exercise were told to stand aside when the cops were storming an area, and otherwise "step over" the dead bodies.frazzdaddy said:

Wow, that had to be a gut check. With my company's focus on safety, I could see us doing that. We had to go through a mock sexual harassment trial with employees as actors and our legal team as themselves.Botch said:

Thx y’all. @bucky925 , basically just used up stuff I had in the house and kept it to only using the one skillet for easy cleanup. Not really a recipe.Cast iron skillet with a little butter and chopped onion. Sauté til translucent. Add 2 large diced up chicken breasts and cook until done. Garlic salt, pepper and lemon white balsamic to give it some flavor. Add in thawed corn, peas and carrots and season to taste. Add in milk, reduced sodium chicken broth, lots of grated Asiago. Then I added Xanthan Gum to thicken. If you don’t have that handy, a roux of flour and butter will work. Then a box of Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix, prepped according to instructions, layered on top. Finished with the herb butter drizzle that you make with the little packet of herbs in the box mix. Also sprinkled on some panko bread crumbs in the areas where the biscuit mix missed. Then transferred to the oven and baked it for about 45 minutes at 350 deg until the biscuit portion fluffed up and started to get golden.Think that was it... just taste as you go. The Asiago and cheddar bay biscuit mix took it up a notch. Good stuff. 👍🏼

Just reading about @ColbyLang's AirBnB problem. That's pretty messed up. I feel for ya. It's not exactly the same thing, but the apartment building I lived in prior to moving back to GA had me profoundly stressed due to their inability or unwillingness to address their AirBnB abuse issues.ColbyLang said:
Been there done that. They have no filming permit on record. My lawyer going file a TRO this morning. I hate that it has come to this but some people just don’t get italaskanassasin said:@ColbyLang mow your lawn.
Numerous tenants had managed to rent multiple apartments in the building and put them up as AirBnB listings. As our building was also attached to a hotel, we had hotel guests roaming our halls plus these AirBnB renters ignoring the building/living policies. We were inundated with absolute nonsense on a daily basis. One day I got to meet Richard Branson and was thinking the place I was living wasn't so bad. Three days later I'm getting off the elevator to head to my apartment when this was laying right out in the elevator lobby:
Apparently this drunk, stoned trust fund baby just couldn't make it back to his illegally sublet AirBnB apartment and decided to nap right there in the hallway. I took this picture and headed back down to the main office to yell at some people, but they were already aware and had two paramedics with them to provide assistance to this fool. Turns out he walked out on paying a bill at the hotel's bar, so when I showed his pic to the bartender while complaining, they made sure he came back in to pay his tab. It's "Smokin Gal", not "Smoking Al".
