    Dobreyy den' tovarishchi!

Let us not forget the NRA accepting millions from Russian Nationalists, then using that money, to help finance the Trump campaign, for president.

    ty mozhesh' verit' etomu der'mu?

    Washington Post. December 2018:
Russian Agent Guilty Plea to Intensifies Spotlight on Relationship with NRA.

Kind of hard to deny this.

NRA - Committing treason, but in a more conservative manner.....

Think about this, the next time the NRA asks for donations, comrades.

I think you clearly understand these are two separate things, I'm not questioning that.  What I'm questioning is whether or not you understand why one of them is legal, while the other is not.

After all, what started this engaging and not at all boring to everyone else tete-a-tete between the two of us was me posting the letter from the FEC, and you stating that it must be referring to the DNC and the Clinton campaign.
John, the second to last sentence in the letter - the Clinton campaign, admittedly through it’s contractor, solicited the assistance of Russia.  Don’t the WaPo and NYT articles clearly state this?

No, they hired a foreigner, who in turn went to Russia to collect info.  He spoke with Russians but he wasn't directly soliciting the assistance of the Russian government.

I understand that Russia is involved in both cases, but in essence the difference is in the process by which the information is obtained and the level of foreign government involvement.  In one case, the foreigners involved were working on behalf of the foreign government and offering stolen information.  Their intent was obviously to influence the US elections.

In the other, the foreigner (non-Russian) was contracted to do the work and looked for info... in Russia.  The process was started on this side, in other words, and it didn't directly involve the Russian government.  It's possible Russian sources he spoke to were aware of what he was doing and were providing disinformation, sure.  Steele even accounted for this in his report.  But Steele himself wasn't an agent of the foreign government.

Even the Republicans in the House themselves cleared this up when they looked into the active measures campaign back in 2018.  If you want all the details, you can read the report:

    https://docs.house.gov/meetings/IG/IG00/20180322/108023/HRPT-115-1_1-p1-U3.pdf

But here's the key excerpt with regard to Steele:

""Under current federal election law, foreigners are prohibited from making contributions or donations in connection with any campaign in the United States. However, it is not illegal to contract with a foreign person or foreign entity for services, including conducting opposition research on a U.S. campaign."

It’s probably moot anyway - they won’t go unless we agree to keep Bieber sequestered in the US indefinitely.

Good Lord, a good percentage of them do become US citizens!    They get their degrees in the US, then they get work visas, then green cards, and finally... become citizens.  It's a key part of workforce development in the US and... legal immigration

We have the best and the brightest come to the US for their education, and then we let them stay and work here (most want to), and if all goes well, they become citizens.  It is one of the smarter things we do as a country.  The short-sighted action is to put obstacles in front of that.
And to carry it one step further, I am in favor of changing the tech HB employees from temporary jobs to a five year program with the end goal of permanent citizenship. Again why train competitors. Make them citizens and they will be working for the prevailing local wages.

as I said previously I am in favor of immigrants who want to assimilate and enrich their new country. Just in case it wasn’t clear.

@JohnInCarolina. A little gem in the link you posted...
    U) Finding #19: The dossier compiled by Christopher Steele formed an essential part of an application to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to obtain electronic surveillance on Carter Page.

Oh, and this one - I guess you didn’t actually read any of it.

IU) Finding #38: Christopher Steele claims to have obtained his dossier information second- and third-hand from purported high-placed Russian sources, such as government officials with links to the Kremlin and intelligence services.

You know what?  You’re right.  You totally got me here.  My bad.  The FEC letter was absolutely about Clinton and the DNC.  Have a great weekend.

Dude, obviously it was issued in response to Trump, but my point is and has been that it applies to the various items I’ve posted as well. Sheesh!
