Bending a spatula works great for lowering the pots into the hot bath and fishing them out. Works a lot better than tongs as well as being safer.

I received an Anova Pro for Christmas. I’ve yet to use it but the kids have mastered the Pots de Crème recipes. Let’s just say the pantry is void of chocolate and dozens of eggs as well as copious quantities of cream have been consumed this week in their culinary efforts. Sadly for them, my stock of ball canning lids is depleted. Which prompted me to wonder, are the canning lids reusable in this application? Or, is it like proper canning in which the lids are a single use application?IL
