@caliking I made the dulce de leche, but from the more popular recipes(no pot) from the webz. Sweetened condensed milk in the bath for 15 hr @ 185. Couldn't be easier.

@bgebrent matthew's birthday was yesterday. Made a batch for desert tonight. Justin already asked if he could have another later. He's the one who renamed them.

I have made these twice now, with outstanding results. The second time I added 2 TBSP of Smuckers Natural Peanut Butter, because who doesn't love chocolate and peanut butter? Came out great, but next time I will add more PB.MMBGE / Large BGE / XL BGE (Craigslist Find) / SF30x80 cabinet trailer - "Ol' Mortimer" / Outdoor kitchen in progress.

Yup. I've got 30 planned for a party in a couple weeks. Will have to wait until the last minute to make them to avoid eating a half dozen.bgebrent said:Doing 20 original recipe CPdC for the family. Great stuff.

I currently do not own a Sous Vide, but looks like this might work in my pressure cooker if I only use it like a water bath vs pressurizing? Thoughts?Tyler, TX XL BGE 2016, KJ Classic 2019, MES, 18.5 WSM, Akorn Jr, 36"&17" Black Stone, Adj Rig, Woo, Grill Grates, SS Smokeware Cap, KAB, FB 300, Thermapen

Not going to work unless you can use your pressure cooker just like a sous vide and control the temp of the water exactly, and I've never heard of a pressure cooker working that waySSQUAL612 said:I currently do not own a Sous Vide, but looks like this might work in my pressure cooker if I only use it like a water bath vs pressurizing? Well looks like I'm going to be a Sous Vider real soon then. May the force be with me.slovelad said:

You're better off using a pot on the stove and watching the temp like a hawk.SSQUAL612 said:I currently do not own a Sous Vide, but looks like this might work in my pressure cooker if I only use it like a water bath vs pressurizing? Thoughts?

Take that number and multiply it by 1.5 to get the number of pounds you'll gain.theyolksonyou said:

Do you think an induction burner would work?DoubleEgger said:

You'd still have to watch it like a hawk. I'd also worry about the bottoms of the lowest layer of pots.Eggscuses said:

You might could pull it off pouring water in a pre warmed cooler that's a little hotter than the 176F sous vide temp. Maybe 185F and let the temp ride down to the low 170's. Have some hot water handy for the duration of the cook so you can dip water and replace with hot water to maintain temp. Or simply add hot water if you've got the room.theyolksonyou said:

Or, do it like creme brûlée and put your pots in water open top in the oven.
-
Or I can just break down and spend $150 and keep things simple
I want people to say Holy $#% ! this guy must of loved to cook...he has stuff I can't even pronounce when they come to clean out my house. Tyler, TX XL BGE 2016, KJ Classic 2019, MES, 18.5 WSM, Akorn Jr, 36"&17" Black Stone, Adj Rig, Woo, Grill Grates, SS Smokeware Cap, KAB, FB 300, Thermapen -
Personally, I'd skip the wifi and all that and get the cheaper Anova.
