Silver lining, you are finding these problems on your own terms/timetable.  Good to resolve main shutoff issue when you don't have a major interior leak.

Re: Detroit airport. I actually like it. Very clean and open. Great restaurants (for an airport).  Sushi is excellent, probably due to the near hourly flights coming in from Asia.

Do you have a water meter down at the street (or somewhere else)?

Most water meter installations have a cutoff valve. You can use that to cut off water to your house.

Most water meter installations have a cutoff valve. You can use that to cut off water to your house.

There is a shutoff between the street and sidewalk that is 42 inches under ground (frost line).  I called Cincinnati Water Works today to have an order put in for it to be dug up and cleared so it can be shutoff while the plumber works.

And, @Ozzie_Isaac , thanks for that perspective.  I'm completely comfortable and quite happy to have this work done now.  Got caught up in the moment (have to much shiit going on right now) to look at the big picture.  Thanks.

Good chance that was grand theft. Press charges.

Here in the great state of Nevada, there is petit larceny and grand larceny, $650 is the threshold. However, burglary may be the more apt charge. The only thing thing you would have to prove is the she came into your home with the intent to commit the offense.
