I’m talking at IIT today.  They put me up in a hotel right downtown in Chicago, which is pretty cool.  I’m right across the street from this bad boy:

And that’s all I’m going to say about that...

The RR sent me to Chicago once...No where as nice as that!  We started up a repair facility that was mothballed for years.  In fact the FRA gave them a waveier  where  trains could not be stopped, account of theft.   I was never SO glad to be back in NC.

Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

I'm trying to figure out why the only submariners I know don't like "Crimson Tide"

Perhaps none of us can truly appreciate "Roll Tide".  Or on a different approach, take a movie about something you are very familiar with and thus you know it has been modified to make it more viewer/plot friendly when you see it.  It may go too far in some areas.  Literary license is part of the game but sometimes it paints a picture that is so far off reality that it is asking too much to embrace for those who have been in the real game.
Especially when you are feeding the public about the command and control of the world's most powerful firecrackers.   But that was long, long ago and far, far away.  FWIW-
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Thanks, Lou.  I have to agree with you in that I am not a fan of Hamburger Hill.  I do love Full Metal Jacket, and I know that is a little farther out there.  that, of course deals with the Marines of which I am not experienced.  I do have to say, some of my favorite military movies are written by and acted by the steroid injected men of Sly Stallone and Arnold's ilk.  I won't let the fake get in the way of the testosterone induced woody.

Ok, possibly not the best balanced plate.  I was celebrating another sun lap, so my call on the menu.

That's tritip, double fried FF, brussels fried in bacon fat, and some shrooms.

That looks incredibly balanced to me @blasting.

Just ate some shady "salmon" from Wal-Mart.  All the fish counters were closed and butcher's gone by the time I left work.  Really wanted salmon.  Only place I found was walmart..  $5 manager special.  Should have just stopped at McDonald's.  Hoping I do not die tonight.

I am not a fan of regular priced Walmart meat.  Manager's special - definitely a no go.

John is in the prime spot. Walking distance to dozens of great bars and restaurants. You were likely sent down south to the industrial areas. Not as appealing for a evening stroll. The RR likely took note of the 200/ night difference in room rates and opted for your location. LOL.
