Glad nothing hit you. Had the wife and kids in a town hit by an EF-4. 1600 homes totally leveled, but only 1 death. Scary stuff. Yesterday while splitting wood, I moved a log and this guy sliverd out from underneath. I do not particularly like snakes, but do realize their value in the foodweb and food chain. I knew that he was the common garter snake so I picked him up to show it to my wife.
Not a very smart idea to come up from behind and tap her on the shoulder and say "look what I found". But some things are worth doing for the memory. She disagrees and has reminded me that several times last night and again today.
Apparently "Will you get over it already?!?!" is not a good idea either....

@lousubcap ... the EF-4 tornado (2013), that Ozzie mentioned, passed us by 1/4 mile to the north. About ten years ago a milder one passed us by 1/4 mile to the south. Did mine last weekend. Because of a pergola and various shrubberies, I have to clean about half of them from the roof.
