My cohort lives n Navarre, FL. We’ll be on calls and he has the nerve to talk about that brutal 40-50 degree chill. Lol
40-50 is brutal for the panhandle of FLA. Those retirees and snowbirds can’t deal with that. Gonna ruin their shuffleboard games

40-50 near sea level where the air is thicker d/t lower elevation and you add humidity to that, is much colder than the same at higher elevations and drier climates. I seem to forget this when I visit family in Texas and San Jose and it bites me in the ass everytime.

Agreed; despite living in IA, UT and both Dakotas, the coldest winters for me were in Dayton OH.

News just said we to expect snow here on Wednesday.  Not sure how much, but all my funny warm weather pics are going to be ruined.

  • it's a balmy 25 here in West Texas.  I am trying to figure out if I can make it to Dallas Friday for the game.  Dallas is supposed to get a ton of snow and Ice on Thursday.  Could make for an adventurous drive Friday morning.

Dude they’re predicting 8-12” snow tomorrow.   No way Dallas metro can properly handle that (well the metro probably can just not the drivers).   I wouldn’t want to be on I-20.

Best of luck though man, hopefully the forecast is wrong.

We had a beautiful ham bone when I cleaned up after Christmas, but we were flying home so I gave it to brother in law. I left lots of meat on it when I trimmed the leftover ham off.

We just bought some ham hocks for now, but will get another ham soon. I like ham and bean soup better than chili when it's really cold.  As it thickens up by the third day or so, I sometimes spread it on sourdough toast for breakfast. Or lunch. Or a snack.

I LOVE split pea soup.  I made a big pot with the Christmas ham bone.

I can't stand green peas though.  Disgusting little things.  Go figure.

Loved split pea as a kid. Now I don't, tastes like dirt to me, but not in a good way like beets.

    I do love peas.

Smoked chicken in an onion garlic chicken broth with carrots, celery, onion, endame and baby lima beans. I add spiced egg noodles to each bowl. Healthy, hearty, savory, filling and delicious.
