Snowpocalypse

Given the forecasted snow/ice event and a trip to local grocery store, I wanted to know if anyone has a favorite dish/meal for such an occasion. We’re going with chicken tortilla soup and plenty libations.

When we lived in Mississippi, that was ideal for duck hunting. How I miss hunting those cold fronts

The Salado brisket chili recipe is a great one for cold winter weather.

Always soups and stews. We try to keep the freezer stocked with portioned meats for this and always have onions, carrots, potatoes, dried beans, etc., so we can go in a lot of directions.  Shepherds pie or cottage pie are a go to as well.
    Love you bro!

Consuming personal anti-freeze is a great prep deal. I would not suggest that for the post snow/ice/freezing rain issues.

Chili is extra good if you're holed up.  That or pepper stout beef would be my favs.

I'm all in with however much snow comes our way.  Been through a healthy ice storm and don't need to revisit that deal.  I will check with the high drama guessers a bit later this evening.

I actually work for my power utility. There’s a very high probability that I’ll be there. Everyone should have a home backup generator.

Well it’s going to drop below 30 soon. I just bought 4 pounds of chicken thighs. I also bought the ingredients for a Turkish souvlaki type marinade. I tink that I will turn the leftovers into a pot pie.

After 10 (or was it 11?) days without power a few years back, I now have a good system rigged up by our electrician.
  • I hope everyone stays safe and comfortable during the storm. The Chicago area is north of the serious ice and snow but we’re going to get the cold. I vote for a shepherds pie or a hearty lasagna.

It’s hard to replicate the comfort a shepherds pie brings.

I second chili.   I tweak the Meat Church over the top version (add X, delete Y).   Always better the 2nd or 3rd day.   Great for cold days/weeks

Well-not to be outdone this winter storm has a name-"Blair."  I forgot that the weather guessers need to be more inclusive thus naming winter storms.  What next, excessive heat waves or droughts?  Everybody gets a trophy!
This little ba$tard has already deposited 8+ inches of snow here with more to come.

This aligns with a lot of insurance policies having exclusions for "named storms"...

I like a 55 degree temp, packing the top with snow indoors would get me there. Warmer than that, I like the Bahama version, it has a better bite than the version sold here.

40-50 is brutal for the panhandle of FLA. Those retirees and snowbirds can’t deal with that. Gonna ruin their shuffleboard games
