A question for you doctors/smart people. How long does it take for the human body to naturally liquify?

Entirely dependent on cause of death, environmental conditions, strength of any booze, horsepower/size of industrial blender/boat motor/weed-whacker, etc.
I'm not a doctor nor a smart people, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express a couple times.

Yep, I was hoping that it was work related. At least he doesn’t have to factor in crabs and gators.

I’d hope the coroner could answer that one for you.

Back in college I rented a house where the prior owner died and melted thru the floor.i remember the neighbors saying the son  found him about a month later. I can't image keeping and renting a house after that

It was a two story house. Guy was single, 45-ish. He had a package by his front door from October 6th. It had been a bit. Mom and dad had driven down from Wisconsin because they hadn’t heard from him since early October. They wouldn’t get in, thank goodness, and called us.

Like I said, a month to make it thu the floor and into the basement.the floor and ceiling were replaced, the basement floor was original when I lived there but we're sanded down next to the bar. The flies have it broken down in about a week from a neighbor that died last summer from heroin. Not fully liquid yet and melting thru a floor....water makes it different, watched one getting removed by helicopter with a hanging claw behind a dam. Body came out like cooked spaghetti. Salmon were feeding on the flies, kids fishing had a bucket of small salmon. Another I've seen was half eaten by crabs in the same river, good fishing for stripers, that was a suicide about a week earlier, stuck under a rock near Newburyort. I've seen three bodies in that river.

I think this happens far more often than anyone talks about.

Luckily adult deaths don’t really faze me. The smell lingers for a while, no matter what.

But, hey, on the bright side I get to work 12 hour shifts for the next three days because of this dumpster fire of a racing event.

    This is for @CPFC1905.

Given that I always second guess his Friday morning Premier League predictions for the weekend's matches, I thought I would give him these probably woefully inaccurate predictions.  Feel free to ignore them and make your own, or use mine as a skeleton for your own predictions and comments.

Leicester 0, Chelsea 2 (I think that Chelsea’s massive number of players serves them well as it forces them to compete mightily for playing time and this comes in especially handy after an international break)

Bournemouth 0, Brighton 3 (Brighton are for real – at least until the 2nd half of the season)

Arsenal 2, Nottingham Forest 0 (Gunners will win but it won’t be as easy as their fans would hope for)

Aston Villa 3, Crystal Palace 2 (A high scoring affair that may not be this close)

Everton 1, Brentford 1 (This game will be boring enough that if an American watches it and it is their first ever football/soccer match, it will also be their last)

Fulham 2, Wolverhampton 2 (Will somehow be a boring match even with a bunch of goals)

Man City 3, Tottenham 1 (Nothing unexpected here.  Haaland will be glad to be back with better teammates)

Southampton 0, Liverpool 4 (Nothing unexpected here)

Ipswich 1, Man U 2  (Man U players are still trying to impress the new manager and they’re better with him, but not better enough to put this game away comfortably)

Newcastle 1, West Ham 1 (I have to confess that while I understand that these teams are geographically disparate, I get them confused as football teams.  During my time watching the Premier League, neither of them has ever been good enough or bad enough to get my attention.  That probably reflects that they also haven’t gotten the attention of the US stations that broadcast the league over here, nor have they ever had a prominent enough US player to get a lot of air time here.)

As I have re-read this I’ve come to recognize how hard it is to make this humorous as my British colleague does every week during the season.

It's hard for me to fathom how 1st/2nd/3rd responders can compartmentalize these situations, if that is even possible.  Great respect here for the work they do.
It's also difficult to comprehend how some people can pass and no one is aware for weeks.  Sad all the way around.

  • Had a neighbour/friend who took on coroner work part-time for a bit. Nicest guy you could meet. Father of two young girls. Although he was always professional and didn’t talk about work in detail, I know he saw some stuff in his brief time in the role.

You can use the contextual clues from his statement to answer that question.

Dark humour is always well timed and placed.  We are living in cereal times right now.

In AZ bodies tend to melt pretty quickly.  A friend who was a super in an apartment complex said about 2 weeks in a hot apartment.

I feel for those parents driving down from Wisconsin.  No way to contact him, no friends or job they can call to check in on him (wish they knew police would do a welfare check).  Hauling ass down here knowing what they will find, but unwilling to admit it to themselves.
