Congrats @Ozzie_Isaac for making it there and back unscathed and adding 4 feet to the stable. I’m sure the 40 hours with your daughter were enjoyable as well

I would have paid a hauler if it were my horse. My daughter asked if we could do it ourselves. A chance to spend 40hrs with no distractions with my teenage daughter? You bet. We don’t get near as much time together as we used to.ColbyLang said:Congrats @Ozzie_Isaac for making it there and back unscathed and adding 4 feet to the stable. And almost unscathed! My trailer had a meeting with a pole at a gas station at 330 am. 😂. 100% my fault. I was pulling in to switch and have my daughter drive some because I was feeling to tired.
Supposed to look like this:
I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

As long as you, your daughter, and Buttercup are fine and only the trailer got hurt.~~

We all made it unscathed, which it the most important. That step is an easy fix!zaphod said:As long as you, your daughter, and Buttercup are fine and only the trailer got hurt.
We don't have a name for the horse yet. Still trying to decide on that.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

We actually talked about that, imagine being taken in from a field, ridden for about 20 minutes, loaded into a trailer, 19 hrs later unloading in the desert with no grass? Everything we feed is bales, so no grazing.DoubleEgger said:I bet that horse is looking around saying Where TF is the grass?
Nebraska was warmer that Tucson right now! Horses do better in our dry heat than the stifling humidity. Their cooling system works much better here.kl8ton said:

Day one victory with our GFSI audit. One minor infraction and it’s a matter of opinion. But I’ll let it be. Day 2 tomorrow……..

@Ozzie_Isaac - What plans does your daughter have for the new family member? And none of my biz, but never stopped me before, what makes her so special that you traveled to "Hades" and back to get her?

Patched a long-neglected hole in my ceiling sheetrock, a repair I've never done before. Got the wooden braces screwed down from above okay, and screwed a 1/2" plywood disk into the braces (wasn't going to buy a 4x8 sheetrock for a 9" hole).
After reviewing a couple more ewetube how-to's, I decided to forego the spackling I had and use mud/tape instead, will buy/install that tomorrow.“The best way to execute french cooking is to get good and loaded and whack the hell out of a chicken."

Thank you. I didn't even know there was a "premixed mud" until this afternoon.DoubleEgger said:

Do you think it'd be best to use it "too thick" to fill the gaps between the sheetrock/plywood, then thin it out for the taping/leveling?“The best way to execute french cooking is to get good and loaded and whack the hell out of a chicken."

How did the hole happen, @Botch?
-
When I patch a drywall hole, I use a hot glue gun to affix the wooden supports inside the hole. Then I attach the drywall patch to those with the hot glue gun. Often I can get smaller pieces of drywall than the full size sheets from the local big box stores. Also, the goal with mud (and for me, the premix is fine) is to apply it as smooth as I can so there's no sanding. I found that a 10" or a 12" drywall "knife" is best once the initial putting-on and shaping is done; also that I had to work fast.Somewhere on the Colorado Front Range

No. It’s a lot harder to work with. It doesn’t take a lot of water. I’m sure YouTube has a video.Botch said:

Four years ago I got a new BlueStar stovetop (you guys spending my money), and a fahncy exhaust hood directly over the stove. It replaced an 8" exhaust fan that was behind me and to the left. The hood installers said that insulation was drifting down from the removed existing fan, so they taped over the hole, you can see it here behind the new hood:

I was pretty excited about a new stovetop with a higher-power wok burner, especially as COVID had just hit; I was at that stove a lot and always looked up to turn the hood exhaust on, off, change the speed, clean the filter, etc, but never noticed the taped hole unless I was cleaning or something; eventually forgot about it.
No wife = No nag = Lazy Botch.
Think it was late Sept this year I was cooking breakfast, and noticed a cold draft on my neck; looked up and saw the tape had partially peeled away from the ceiling, ewps!
Most of the hole is covered up now, and the leaky cracks will be fixed tomorrow. Only took four years.... :b:
Somewhat related: my new HVAC system (highest-rated heat pump) has been running almost continually since Sept this year, and yesterday got my new electricity bill: still less than $20! Love that heat pump; the gas furnace (which only kicks on below 40º F) isn't quite as efficient, but still costs less than my old furnace. Will have this system paid off easily by the time I'm 137!“The best way to execute french cooking is to get good and loaded and whack the hell out of a chicken."

Hd has small buckets of mud ln the regular style and a lighter easy sanding style all mixed up. If the ceiling is smooth without a texture you want to use the lighter mud to finish. To much added liquid will lift the tape seams, I would just buy the premix. Ceilings seem to show defects more than walls
It will be easier than painting the ceiling

The temps dropped below 70, so it’s pretty much freezing here. Calls for making some chili. This is the first for the year. Not expecting it to be very good, it usually takes me about three tries to get it just right. It would probably be smart of me to write it down when I get it how I like, but as usual, I will just wing it.Las Vegas, NV

Me too; I make chili several times each winter and I never refer to a recipe anymore (unless it's Cincinnati-style).Legume said:

Ground beef, stewed tomatoes, whatever canned beans you have in the pantry, canned corn, some seasoning, and if feeling frisky a can of diced green chilis and tomatoes, and random spices.Battleborn said:The temps dropped below 70, so it’s pretty much freezing here. Hitting it’s stride or regressing to the mean - you decide, but as we reach game week 10 the truth about each team is emerging. Man Utd, languishing in 14th finally lost patience with Erik and we await confirmation of his successor. A rapid sequence of victories could see them back where they think they belong, but…. Of the remaining anomalies Newcastle and West Ham in 12th and 13th, only Eddie at the Toon will be feeling the heat. Three defeats in the last five is not an acceptable return for the all the petro-pounds poured in.
Saturday
Newcastle v Arsenal - form says away win, and the Gunners have slipped to four points behind Liverpool in 2nd. Big statement win if they can do it. Toon are not in good shape, but it would be foolish to assume this will be simple or straight forward. 0-1
Bournemouth v Man City - undefeated Citeh head to the Cherries and ought to take all three with minimum fuss. But injuries are piling up and their hosts won’t be for rolling over and being tickled. 1-2
Ipswich v Leicester - highlighted fixture on the wall calendar since day 1 for the Tractors Boys, and they are still seeking their first win. While the Foxes aren’t convincing they have that extra percentage point of guile, which is why they are well clear of the relation fight presently. Big, big match for both. It’ll be 1-1 until the very very end and then a heart wrenching goal seals it for the Foxes. 1-2
Liverpool v Brighton,- the Red army are in menacing form and the draw at Arsenal last week should be seen as evidence that they are very strong contenders for the title. As popular as the filthy’s are with the media, form speaks loudest 2-0
Forest v West Ham - a quirk of this season is that these two teams are, to quote Maverick “inverted”, albeit lacking the sexual tension. I assume. Quite how the season has panned out this way for each is a mystery, and that matters not at all. 2-1
Southampton v Everton - five unbeaten for the Toffees means the Dyche effect is pumping out at 11. Saints are really struggling. A dramatic stylistic shift to obdurate pragmatism is called for, but they have committed to playing with flair and elan. Sunk by Christmas. 0-1
Wolves v Palace, finally a win albeit against the Spursy-est of Spurs and then another mid-week. Could the tide have turned for the mighty Eagles and they now surge to about mid-table? Maybe, but not certain. Wolves have been worse than Palace, which is small sample group - but a last minute equaliser against the fetid Seagulls could be the fillip they need. Tough match. 1-1
Sunday
Spurs v Villa, Spursy Spurs caveat applies, naturally. The Villans have held a high standard across the PL and CL so far and having fielded a second string against Palace mid-week, shouldn’t fear this match at all. But it’s Spurs. Could 3-0 or 0-3. My bet is several goals shared and Villa to sneak it. 2-3
Man Utd v Chelsea, the 8th re-spawn of manager since Sir Alex left is looming and the Old Trafford colossus have never really been convincing in the aftermath. Peculiar ownership has degraded almost all aspects of the club, yet they are still big big players. The Chels’ are emerging from several odd seasons and somehow a decent team is playing well this time out. 1-2
Monday
Fulham v Brentford, west end boys play the west end boys - nether of whom emanate from Sierra Leone, just to be clear. The Bees tend to win or lose, which the Cottagers have an equal split of all three outcomes so far. So what? 1-1, that’s what.
So, there’s that. Anything else going on with you guys this week coming up?
Other girls may try to take me away
But you know, it's by your side I will stay
