Yes, odd that Republicans just refused Hunter's offer to testify publicly.

I guess we only save hostages with big contributions to the biden campaign and give the big guy his ten percent thru hunter as well. Seems fishy to me😁

And yet they want the clown shows involving CHEETO to be televised.  No politics at play here-me thinks the Hunter case could end up being a dud while CHEETO will bring all kinds of high drama and more clown characters to the stage.  Bigger audience.

Don't know where I saw it yesterday (GPS, PBS, CBS, other?) but they reported that this pipe replacement was already fully funded by Biden's sorta-bipartisan infrastructure bill of a year or two ago.
The half of that bill that was chopped included fixing our badly-outdated Air Traffic Control system; I'm just waiting for the first major airport near-miss to NOT be a miss, and see who starts pointing fingers first.

We should have privatized the ATC system decades ago. There's no compelling need for it to be a government agency.

    on hunter,

The White House declined to comment on the charges. A White House official said it learned of the indictment from public reporting and did not have advance notice.

is george santos the white house official....... =)

The indictments are from the special prosecutor.   If I recall, he’s not exactly a Democrat.

i was talking about the white house official in question. pretty sure the prosecutor didnt learn about the indictments from public reporting =) really betting the white house didnt find out about it by public reporting as well but with this particular group its not out of reason to believe that......

I understand exactly who you were talking about. You were clearly indicating that the White House knew about the indictments before they were publicly announced.

They may well have, but my point is that I don't think the special prosecutor was under any obligation to inform the White House of what he was about to do.  As he is a special prosecutor, I'm not even sure he needed to inform the top people within the DOJ.

Well usually the path between them involves, you know…at least *some* evidence.  The fact they haven’t found any kind of speaks for itself.

Blue Jays was close! $$$ aside, IMHO proximity to Japan played a role in his decision.

I honestly thought Seattle had a great chance to sign him.
    A bit more background  info:

Ohtani, Dodgers agree to 10-year, $700 million contract

Shohei Ohtani’s singular pursuit of history, one man’s quest to rewrite the baseball world’s understanding of what is possible, reached another summit on Saturday when he agreed to the largest contract in the annals of major North American team sports, a 10-year, $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ohtani announced his decision on Instagram. The deal ends years of feverish speculation about Ohtani’s future. Ohtani, a 29-year-old two-way sensation, has captivated the industry since he left Japan for Major League Baseball heading into the 2018 season. He has done things that appeared impossible in the modern era, feats that harkened back to Babe Ruth. As he traveled the country with the Los Angeles Angels this past summer, fans serenaded him with recruiting pitches. When he entered free agency, a dozen teams lined up, curious to see if they could meet his eye.

Only one team could secure Ohtani’s services. He will now be compensated for both his immense talent and his unparalleled star power. His contract eclipsed the $360 million record for free agents set last winter by New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge and also surpassed the record-setting $426.5 million extension from Ohtani’s former Angels teammate Mike Trout. His achievement exceeded even those outside of baseball, topping the $450 million contract inked by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Ohtani has outpaced even soccer star Lionel Messi’s $674 million contract — signed in 2017 when he was with FC Barcelona."

The article does not go into the $$/year value of the mentioned contracts, media again not grounded.  So, what is new??

    Edit- under the Biden thread??

^^^^ Like the above posture is a surprise??  There is no "there" there but lets muddy the waters so we have another reason we don't do anything effective for the American people.
