OT And away we go...Zoom/Speakeasy opening THURSDAY Sep 21st, 9 PM EDT-OT

In view of the new forum layout and the minor issues it has raised, the speakeasy will open for the first time in 2023 on THURSDAY (note the day of the week), Sep 21, 2023 at 9 PM (EDT).  This is also the opportunity to share ideas for how to rejuvenate  the forum and restore the good works this place championed as noted in the below thread-
Forum Fundraiser for Operation BBQ Relief, Special Zoom Session;   over $5K raised from those who participated here .

The backstory for those who are new to the forum and wonder what this thread is about.
When the covid lock-down/shutdown commenced in March/April 2020 @JohnInCarolina obtained a personal Zoom account that he offered for use to engage forum members otherwise in the self isolation mode.  The Zoom sessions happened EVERY Friday evening until May 2021.
Anyone and everyone was welcome.  The objective was to create an atmosphere where free-flowing conversation about a wide range of topics was encouraged.  This was routinely achieved.  BBQ and BGE were low on the list of things discussed.  Any hobby or interest was fair game and everyone definitely learned a lot.
To keep things flowing and not get heated, religion and politics make up the third rail and are off-limits.

You will enjoy yourself however long you visit. Beverage(s) of your choice.  Level of participation your preference.  Just like enjoying your local watering hole and engaging or not with other patrons.  Everyone who has participated at whatever level has left with "value add."
Reminder:  Politics and religion make up the third rail and are off-limits.
Upfront thanks to @JohnInCarolina (aka The Chairman) for enabling this to happen for the entire time.
Zoom site linked here:   https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89600782373
Password is unchanged since inception (believe it or not, 41 months ago) and will be gladly provided, just ask.
Lining up headliners now-
Not to be missed!!!
Cheers- Cap
P.S.  Some serious speakeasy cleaning will happen as the place has been shuttered for too long.  Guarantee enough seating for all who visit.
Happy Friday and holiday weekend.

Good to hear.  You may want to concentrate on the two booths, vinyl sofa, and the pool table, in the NW corner, with some ammonia.  I still had my key and hosted a small private get-together in early March, and things kinda got out of hand.

The third rail topics are fair-game once we get the place rolling.
I will gladly facilitate that rodeo but we've gotta take care of the basics first.
Hopefully many of the new members will drop in if nothing more than curious as to "WTF?"
I'm hopeful as we need the camaraderie that was developed during the dark times of Covid.
    See all in 20 days-

The more the merrier!   Plus I think most of us can’t wait to hear lots more Beulah stories.

You can bring anyone you want excepting Alice- Lyrics from Arlo Guthrie- the 1960's:
"You can get anything you want, at Alice's Restaurant excepting Alice."
She is definitely welcomed as are you-no one is turned away-

Truth right there.  But always appreciate a backup system.  Reminds me-I need to put the event on my calendar.

I'm bringing Beulah for sure ....  but I want you all to know, she has cauliflower ears, so if she falls and you catch her by the side of her head .. be ready to feel something like cauliflower just sliding off the sides of your hands.

Bump to the front page of "Recent Discussions."  This will be a fairly frequent happening given that only 10 threads reside on a page at a time.

In the past we’ve mostly held these on Fridays, but now that the pandemic is in our rear view mirror (for the most part) it seems like folks are otherwise occupied on Friday nights.  So Frank suggested trying a different night to see if we might not get some more or perhaps different folks to show up.

Thursday was decided based on moving off the what was once the routine Friday (covid isolation driven) day figuring more would not be out and socializing on Friday eve than Friday proper.  Just looking to expand the opportunity for more to visit.

This forum always gets rolling well into Friday eve so that work night excuse doesn't pass the test.  Besides @Botch you've got a few time zones head start, never mind the "every day is Saturday lifestyle."

I will endeavor to make sure this thread is always on the (short porch) front page.
We can do this on 9/21.  Be there as you will learn something-guaranteed.

Starting to think we might have a pretty good turnout for this one, Frank.
