Friday night and the EggHead Forum option of the forum choices is eerie quiet- I need to get a life!

The title says it all.  Chasing the end of the not so endless summer comes to mind.  Guilty here as no BGE cook rolling tonight and playing with live fire Saturday.  Surely Friday night shenanigans are on the horizon. Edit for fat finger correction.

Tell us what’s on the docket for Saturday. Hoping for the SM apparatus but will not gripe if it’s a beautiful paella or caveman steak on the Egg.

Thanks for asking as it is a picanha along with some roasted garlic. Messing about with the SM as I need the live fire fix.

Picanha sounds delicious, it has been forever since I’ve seen a good piece of meat to make it!

Now that you’re a bit further into it, how are you enjoying the SM? Any revelations about cooking on it as compared to the BGE?

Well the weather guesser has forced an audible.  The SM sits out in the open and the now gloom and doom cast is driving the cook to the BGE which sits on an open sided porch.  Regardless, it will get done today.

Given the pace and activity (not) of the forum on Friday (and extrapolated across the week) I'm guessing the "where is the mobile?" crowd lack of participation has had a measurable impact.
@The_Buffalo ,  from my perspective it is time to either front up and fix the mobile app issues or kill the whole deal.  From one who does not use the mobile app.

Wait, can we just type @The_Buffalo and talk to a Buffalo online? How do we know which Buffalo we're talking too? I'd like to talk to the ones out at Yellowstone, and tell them to stay away from the hot springs because they found a human foot in there not that long ago, and that's creepy even for Buffalo's.

I know there is a whole lot of forum cred with @Ybabpmuts , but @The_Buffalo owns the hammer.  He does not reside in Yellowstone unless in their bourbon so there's that. He/she (undetermined) likes race cars and beyond that, works in mysterious ways as you well know.

All buffalo's work in mysterious ways. I once read about a buffalo that mated with a gorilla, and birthed what they called a buffarilla. If that isn't mysterious nothing is.
  • Buffarilla seems like an obvious outcome there. Probably more mysterious if it birthed a Chevrolet.

Regarding the mobile site and activity levels. One thing that seems to have changed over the last several years for a million reasons has been the eggfest or other sanctioned / non sanctioned events participation of the posters.  My guess is they are probably busy at HQ with Eggtoberfest right now.  While the digital crowd is restless, the lack of the other stuff probably compounds the frustration too.

Thanks Ron, you're too kind, but you know how I feel about the nonsense coming out of my head. I need to get it out, but it bothers the crap out of me that it's even in there in the first place. I'm grateful people put up with my posting at all, honesty.

I wonder if he tapes the keyboard upside down under his desk so he can type with his "one" finger?

I’m not sure most of us feel like you’re giving us much of a choice.

But why don’t you post some cook threads once in a while?  This is a bbq forum after all.

Did you give me a choice about reading your "tip" post (which was very funny btw)? I don't think so. In the twenty plus years I've been posting, I've very rarely posted any cooking threads. You say this is a bbq forum, but I wonder if you sat and actually analyzed all the posts on this site now, how many are actually bbq related? It has gone in a different direction than total bbq.

I was just trying to suggest you might change it up a bit, and not feel obligated to subject us all to another dose of typed intellectual vomit in every thread.

I'm a vegan.  I am working to gain everyone's trust, grow some street cred, then slowly work in my philosophy and convert everyone.  I hope to begin the prostleotyizying in another few years, and conversion a few years after that.

Figured BBQ forum was the best place for this.  Like the good book says in Mark 2:15.

@Ozzie_Isaac - as some of us have not committed the good book to memory could you post the above verse to enable us to appreciate or do you have to have special privileges?

For heathen's I prefer NIV translation (added verse 16-17 for more context):

15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

I am now enlightened.  Many thanks as I have seen the meat induced light and it is fair and just.
