I sprung for the basic which should last us through any disaster we might suffer. I thought of it as PRETTY CHEAP insurance and if it goes bad  in the 25; yers they promise we will have been dead for years anyway!:

We keep a freeze dried assortment stashed in a safe for emergency. Also have some MREs and 20lbs of rice vacuum packed. That and a Berkey water filter will keep us alive for a while. Hopefully it’s never needed

Honest, John? You have never heard a single commercial  by “My Patriot Supply” by a KCMO  company?

Just get a dehydrator and make your own. You probably already own a Food Saver vacuum bagger.
  • People haven’t bought that stuff in 5+ years!

  • I had to google it.  Somehow I am not surprised that this is a huge industry in the US.

Today my wife and I opened both heavy containers. We were happily surprised with the WIDE range of foods therein!.,! Yes we/ have a FS BUT  would NEVER take the time and  effort  to make that wide range of 2000 calariiesb per day food. Besides I’m not sure what else  MPS may have done to “promise” all thatf food will last 25/years!myou think your FoodSaver bagged foods will?

Have you tried any of the meals, Ron?  They certainly look delicious in the photos at the website.

No! But upon  re-packaging  each container I enclosed a large tightly sealed container of salt which I assume each bag will beed!,

OTOH my way of thinking was if we are starving then I bet we just might like anything!,

You make a good point there.  Heck Ron I bet some people could bring themselves to eat cat food if they got hungry enough.  Probably plenty of calories, too, judging from how fat our cats are!

I've seen Mad Max. I chose to stock up on ammo.  I plan to don a mask and just take what I need.

Costco has for decades been selling a wide range of freeze dried meal kits for those that think they'll have a chance to survive the apocalypse. They sell packs to last a few days or a few months. I've never bothered to compare their prices to places like "Patriot Supply" or any of the dozens of other similar sellers.
If one is looking to buy bulk basic emergency food rations hit up a Mormon Home Storage Center (LDS Cannery). They just have the basics and not any "fancy" prepared meals.

If it ever gets to the point we need to eat food out of a 25-year old bucket, I guarantee the people eating out of those buckets will be armed.

BTW - just for the record - about all my typos on this thread...I had cataract surgery lately and am still trying my best to get accustomed to new glasses which I still needed. For reading and computer I also bought a pair of  "computer glasses" but I switch back and forth from them and cheap drugstore glasses when using my tiny iPad like last night. I'm normally pretty careful about my typing, but last night was bad! and no, I was not hitting the juice last night!!!
