I have to go with lower, left quadrant. Compare the size of the insulin bottles X the number required for a 30 day supply X cost per bottle and the quantity doesn't approach a gallon. It is way more than $4.54 per gallon that gasoline is going for. The fun part is when you fall into the medicare prescription "doughnut hole" and pay the total cost until you reach their limit and they pick up the cost again.
Oh and there is this: "Canadian Co-inventors James Collip and Charles Best, sold the insulin patent to the University of Toronto for a mere $1. They wanted everyone who needed their medication to be able to afford it."Ubi panis, ibi patria.

And I totally agree with your second paragraph. The feds have the ability, and the authority, to dissolve the "patent" being held by one monopoly on the insulin formula, and let anyone make it. But they won't because so many of them don't work for us, they work for Big Pharma.
A registered nurse friend of mine in Phoenix is diabetic, and he's had to sell off some of his belongings to pay for insulin. And I haven't heard from him for awhile, I'm worried about him. This isn't right. This just isn't **** right.___________"When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set."

@Botch - Insulin usually comes in either 3 milliliter or 10 milliliter bottles and depending on the type required may cost anywhere from $95.00 to $350.00 per bottle. For the patient I am familiar with, one bottle might last 5 days so it gets very expensive very quickly without coverage.
I was just commenting on the chart in your post and relative cost of fuel vs insulin. I am sorry to hear about your friend. I know how stressful it is when you are running low on insulin and the insurance companies drag their feet approving payment for the next order. The patient gets caught between the pharmacy and the insurance company pulling against each other and it is never good.Ubi panis, ibi patria.

@Botch - I was making a comparison of price gouging between the two industries. Big Pharma comes out on top percentage wise per gallon.Ubi panis, ibi patria.

I don’t know where you get your news for certain, fish, but the general orientation seems pretty clear. Maybe the guys in the shop stay up late enough to get all of the right wing nutjob news."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike -

and then they sit out front at lunch time with BLM signs....lots of nutjobs here. the summer of 2021 was amusing, glad that year has passed. things seem less polarized this year, the trump stickers are gone, the blm signs disappeared and zipzero talk about roe vs wade in 2022....maybe just the calm before the storm but im hoping they are just burnt out from last year
