I think DeSantis is betting the gas price gets some relief before October and could roll that back.  Meanwhile he gets political credit for doing that now ahead of Biden and he gets to collect gas tax through the summer which is when everyone is driving.  And no tax on diapers and hurricane supplies - that’s got to be popular, right?

You laugh but that’s a distinct possibility. In 2024 Donald will be about 80. If you add a possible 8 years of presidency cognitive decline like unnamed other in that age bracket is a statistical certainty. I told my Dad this past weekend that I really only wanted to vote for someone in their 50s or maybe late 40s. The policies that they endorse is a separate matter.
Cognitive decline?  That is pretty dang funny if you ask me.  Pretty sure the only way it can decline more is if his autonomic nervous system quits.

DeSantis is a lying criminal, perfect solution for republicans who want a lying criminal but don’t think Trump will be running because jail or health.
    Beats being a segregationist.
    Who is the segregationist?
The current president. Investigate his statements when his local school district was being integrated. I will let you find sources that you trust.

He is full of interesting statements.. clearly a man who goes with the winds of the day and no actual moral compass.  A true politician.  Too bad outrage from the cancel types is reserved for only select groups.

I think there is a difference between positions Biden took on school busing 40+ years ago and what most people would consider to be a modern “segregationist”.  Referring to him as a “segregationist” suggests that he’s actively campaigning for school segregation, that there are elements of his campaign for the Presidency that reflected such a preference.  This is just not even remotely the case.

Do you see armies of people losing their minds over Biden and claiming he’s the second coming?  I never expected much, a caretaker that didn’t continue to burn the country down would be A+ for me.  Not a lot of people defending him.  I think the gaffes, the remnants of stutter, etc., aren’t a true measure, just easy pickings.  I think on some topics he does seem to be chasing popularity rather than leading with conviction.  Both parties need fresh leadership.  Personally, I think a rudderless ship gives you better odds than one steering deliberately for the rocks.
We have a tendency to focus on the personalities and the speech.  The fact of the matter is, the actions and the policies are what actually end up impacting most people’s lives.

The cult who loves Trump and willingly ignores all the horrible things he has done and actively did to subvert democracy is truly scary.  They know what he did was wrong (at least I hope they do), but eince he was "their guy" they think the ends justify the means.

I am glad Trump lost, but I am not glad Joe won.

I've fallen in exactly the same way a couple of times forty+ years ago when my shoe got caught in the toe clip on my mountain bike.
I hope I'm in as good physical condition when I'm Biden's age to even be able to ride a bike (tho I would remove the toe clips).

My downhill bike only has platforms.  I actually fell over with just those.  Years of clips, I tried to roll my foot out like you do, and the platforms with wicked little cleats held my foot fast.  You need to lift your foot straight up, or you are not coming off.
