Peanuts in Coke?

I’ve seen people do some crazy things with food and drink combinations over the years, but this is just nuts.

Growing up in MO in the 1950's that was quite common! A display of Planter's peanuts was always right by the Coca-Cola coolers in stores. 10 cents for the Coke and 5 cents for the nuts. The salty taste did something magical to the Coke when you would swig and chew! LOL. Try it sometime!!!

Only place I have seen/heard it was from friends in the Deep South. Never tried it.

I have done this many, many times. I prefer it with Diet Mt. Dew.

I really want to try it, but I have only had bourbon and water since October.  Well, and half a Mundet.  Afraid, this might send me into a soda tailspin.

You might be more familiar with Mazanita Sol.  Same idea, apple flavored soda.  I like Mundet because it isn't super sweet.

Growing up in way upstate NY (long before diet beverages were created) peanuts in coke was the way to go.  Need to grab a few Mexican cokes and go again.  Thanks for the nudge.

I would like to register a complaint to the OP that this was posted in the main forum instead of the OT area where it clearly belongs.  At least label this OT in the title if you’re not going to extend us that basic courtesy of properly selecting where to post it in the first place.

The first member here who tries to smoke a bottle of coke with nuts in it - that’s on you, man.  There may soon be blood on your hands.

I love the combination of eating peanuts with a coke. It’s an awesome flavor. I combine while consuming, I’ve never dumped them straight in, but have seen it done.

That was common when I was a little tyke. But it was the 6 ounce Coke in a glass bottle. The bottle was next to an appropriate sized bag of peanuts.

There are so many unwritten rules to this place.  I cannot even find the OT forum.  I will just lay low until I figure it all out.

To all others, I am stunned to find this practice so wide spread.  Thought it was an internet fable.

In my neck of the woods it was a big thing in the early and mid 70’s. However it was Barqs root beer instead of Coke.

 Nope. Dunno what that is. We have apple juice and that's it.

Peanuts and coke, the old 8 oz bottles.  Then everyone would "travel" to see who paid for the drinks.  

Back then each bottle had the place it was bottled on the bottom . Futherest away pays.

I wonder how many eggers here have ever tasted Coca-Cola made In Mexico! I don’t buy it often but it is so much better than that Coca-Cola crap forced on us in the US!

I have and do at least once a month. I think it is close to the original Coke. Just like today’s Barq’s Rootbeer isn’t a patch on the original from the sixties with its glass bottle and real sugar.

I've seen it in the local hispanic market, but I'm not into sweet (nor CC, for that matter).  Would may be interesting to marinate a chunk of ham in it, before smoking.
