Pitmaster John Mueller passed away Dec 16, 2021

Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Comments

  • Saw he was working for Hutchins BBQ. We ate there last Saturday and I can attest that whatever he did to that place improved it immensely. RIP

Let us show respect and eulogize Mueller's untimely passing with a song from my college years....

    Forever Young

    Alphaville
Let's dance in style, let's dance for a while
Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies
Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst
Are you gonna drop the bomb or not?
Let us die young or let us live forever
We don't have the power, but we never say never
Sitting in a sandpit, life is a short trip
The music's for the sad man
Can you imagine when this race is won?
Turn our golden the faces into the sun
Praising our leaders, we're getting in tune
The music's played by the, the madman
    Forever young
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
    Forever, and ever
    Forever young
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
    Forever young
Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody and some are the beat
Sooner or later they all will be gone
    Why don't they stay young?
It's so hard to get old without a cause
I don't want to perish like a fading horse
Youth's like diamonds in the sun
    And diamonds are forever
So many adventures given up today
So many songs we forgot to play
So many dreams swinging out of the blue
    Oh let it come true
    Forever young
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever
    Forever, and ever?
    Forever young
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever
    Forever, and ever?
    Forever young
I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever
    Forever young

    He had his demons
I know nothing of the guy, but the way that article was written, sounds like it.

Thanks @Foghorn.  Great backstory right there.  Almost ten years ago.

I think that is my 3rd or 4th time through that one. I never get tired of reading it and always gain some new perspective seeing after a few years have passed. I had totally forgotten about it until you posted again. Thanks for posting.

Anyone know what he died of?

Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

    Status- Standing by.

I'd hate to speculate, but if I was betting money, I'd read up on his history.

It’s sad no matter what it was. Just curious was it covid related.

I searched for "how did John Mueller die tx bbq" and there's so much click-bait garbage out there that all has one thing in common, well, two actually.  Tons of ads and no answers.

Rumor that he was smoking some anus and cut himself shaving.

(started by me, right here, with no credibility)

Sometimes it's just better to NOT know....

I can’t think off any better way to go. He was already in heaven when he passed.

I read he was smoking, and cut himself shaving his anus.
It was on the intranetz, so it MUST be true.
