Uma is on a righteous roll. Great cooks above @MasterC and @JohnInCarolina.

Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -

Thanks, all!
It was deemed “picy” by the youngsters (and their mother), but I kinda like that they’re developing some tolerance! -

Wife’s birthday dinner. Parmesan spinach Orzo with some grilled strip steak.

@fishlessman
Loosely based on this: https://www.onceuponachef.com/recipes/thai-shrimp-curry.html (My daughter says she prefers a different green curry recipe I made months back and cannot locate. 🙃)
Added quite a bit more curry paste than was called for (hence the additional heat), and the veggies were just a random assortment that I had on hand, cooked in a cast iron pan until almost tender and then lightly seasoned. -

Cub Scouts have an annual banquet, the highlight of which is a cake competition. There’s a theme each year, and the Scouts are supposed to make their cake with whichever parent doesn’t usually do the cooking at home.It’s usually a bloodsport, with all of us involved, but I stayed out of it this year… for the better apparently. caliprince won this year (he also won in 2023)! He was very stoked. This year’s banquet was even more special, as he graduated from Cub Scouts/Arrow of Light to Scouts BSA.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

@caliking Congrats to caliprince. Two wins proves the skill set and not just luck. Okay, a toss to the helpers as well.
But with his moving up, I am speculating that my annual source of chocolatey pretzels is now history.
BTW- I allow myself no more than three/day. I recently opened the last of the three bags I ordered last fall. Perhaps I shoulda been a bit more supportive.
Edit-the cake is a beaut! How did it taste?Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
@caliking - Congrats to you and family. Especially to caliprince for the promotion.LBGE, LBGE-PTR, 22" Weber, Coleman 413GGreat Plains, USA

Congrats to the fam. An Egghead in the making, right there.I discerned the homage to @Canugghead. You had mentioned that there might be a riff on his dessert. Definitely did it justice! -
Nothing but a humble lentil soup, simmering away. Reducing nicely.Added garlic for no reason. Didn’t have celery, so used cabbage instead. Lots of butter and fresh parm for the finish.Up for dessert will be a Victoria sponge cake my M-I-L made.
-
@caliking That's a stunner, congrates to caliprince and caliqueen!canuckland

@GrateEggspectations pro tip: the lentil soup got overshadowed by your M-I-L's sponge cake, don't show them in the same post, j/k. I would die for a slice of that, fresh whipped dairy cream?

I told them they have to choke down some of my soup first.

Thanks @Botch , @dbCooper , @johnmitchell , @GrateEggspectations , @Canugghead . He's still chuffed about winning
@lousubcap - The cake turned out well... we're fighting over the last pieces. And, I believe popcorn, etc. sales continue beyond Cub Scouts into Scouts BSA. We got you covered for chocolatey pretzels!

Pepper stout beef sandwiches on brioche buns with a side of kung pao cauliflower and chickpeas. Cauliflower and chick peas topped with scallions, coriander and toasted cashews. Unconventional pairing, but the cauliflower needed using up.

Looks great @GrateEggspectations … never would’ve thought of kung pao cauliflower, but I can imagine it works well!

@GrateEggspectations - Nice looking sandwich, I'd be good with anything you paired it with. The cauliflower looks really good.LBGE, LBGE-PTR, 22" Weber, Coleman 413GGreat Plains, USA

Cygnet pâte à choux for my sweetie. Dark chocolate ganache and whipped cream filling, floating in raspberry sauce.First try, so looks a bit janky. Still, well received by the fam#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.
