Some good eating right there, @nolaegghead. Must have been delicious, because @JohnInCarolina seems so focused

@GrateEggspectations - somehow you have convinced her that forum photos are a worthy accomplishment...
However, given she is interested and engaged offers many upsides going forward.  Way to develop the desire.

  • Bought a three pack of whole chickens at Costco. Two were prepped for this and vac sealed (one for this weekend and the other for the freezer) - https://www.saltfatacidheat.com/buttermilkmarinated-roast-chicken. Great, stupidly simple recipe.

The other was frozen whole and will be destined for fried chicken or something of the sort.

Marinaded flank steak salad. Pepper and finishing salt. 450 on cast iron grates for ~8 minutes on the egg cooking to medium/medium rare.
Oh heck yeah.  I need more meals like that in my life.

Was out for a bite with my main squeeze when I get a text from my daughter asking if I can post her photos on the forum (but only if I “think they’re worthy”). These are the photos that she took and sent to me. She chopped some of the ingredients herself.

Just saw this, and its taken a while to compose myself. So much awesome in this one post.

    1. Your offspring rustled up a pretty excellent looking dinner/snack.
    2. Y'all were out of the house, so she did it on her own steam.
    3. She asked you to post it on this forum .

I could probably go on. It honestly made me happy to see this post.

Putting the new Smithey to good use on pork chop night.

That looks awesome! What one did you get and how do you like it?
  • @caliking

Thank you, friend, and thanks to @lousubcap and @johnmitchell as well. The positive encouragement is appreciated. My folks were holding the fort and brought all the makings of taco night - some assembly required. As we’re out for dinner, I get the text from my daughter showing me her work and asking me to post. Thanks for all of the reactions!

I have the 12. I like it so far. The handle is too
short in my opinion but that’s just personal preference. It’s not a Griswold but it’s good for new stuff.

I’ll patch you through. Father-in-law had a long career in CAS, so I’m pretty sure they already have a pretty thick file going on us.

Wife took the girls to the most expensive…errr…magical place on earth (Disney) so I went off piste with some picanha for the dog and me.

Clearly wasn’t trying to overachieve, rather something different.

@GrateEggspectations - beautiful.  On quite a roll.  Keep 'em coming.
And to juice the forum consider a standalone thread for the next gastronomic delight you create.
