I've learned a whole lot about a whole lot of topics here but I am totally a neophyte regarding the above spoon.  I assure any who would consider extolling the virtues of said spoon that there is no way I will venture down that rabbit hole. However, I'm sure the collective we would appreciate the pitch.

Just another forum rabbit hole. Getting out for $38 with shipping is a bargain around here.

Would that spoon be subject to the new 24% tariff for Japan, had you not ordered when you did?

    I would assume so.

I admit I'm a bit of a sucker for adult (?) desktop fidget toys, although I don't buy many anymore since retirement.  But I saw this one and had to have it:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZ9KQH8Q?ref_=pe_123509780_1038749300_t_fed_asin_title&th=1

It arrived this afternoon (tariff-free, yay!) and I have to admit, for $18, it's quite a marvel.  The body and base are machined from solid aluminum, and I'm pretty sure the central "globe" is a polished steel ball bearing.  It spins damn near forever (okay, nearly 2 minutes) and is completely silent.
It came with a small, 1" x 1.5" piece of paper, and using both my reading glasses and a 4" magnifying glass (go ahead and laugh you ph**kers, your time is coming) I saw it was a Warrantee on one side, and "Instructions" on the other.  Instructions for a fidget toy?  I started reading thru them, and it was more Specifications (weight, materials, etc) but at the bottom it listed "Recommended Age:"

    Three.

Not 3-10, or 3-18, or 3-65.  Just, Three.  And, I've not been a parent, but I think a three-year-old would struggle to let this tiny thing sit still on a solid surface and be able to spin it with any dexterity.  Again, I've not been a parent so I dunno.

It's still fun, so let me embrace my inner toddler.  I promise not to muddy up the "Friday Night" thread with this.   =)

"Old age is a thing.. last night I was in bed for 20 min when I heard the pizza guy cough. Then I remembered I came to my room for my wallet."

Neat. I have a friend who loves fidget toys and would probably enjoy this. As someone who has now had two 3 year olds, I can’t agree with the seller’s age recommendation. I recall trying to have them spin tops at that age, and they just don’t have the hand-eye coordination, nor the strength to apply that much spin that early.

Curious to know if the device’s spin time will increase over time (as parts wear and friction eases) or if built up oil from fingers, dust and grime will cause it to decrease - in which case maybe you could take it apart, clean it and grease it).

Nice that it’s aluminum and steel at that price point.

There’s a neat website I sometimes visit at thisiswhyimbroke.com. Hard to describe, but it lists oddball and/or innovative consumer goods from $2 stickers to multi-million dollar jewellery to hovercrafts to incredible mansions. I’ve seen them list a few high end fidget toys for adults in the past. https://www.thisiswhyimbroke.com/search/Fidget
