  • Last day of the Trudeau tax holiday, so figured I’d be picking up a little beer and wine while on a Costco run with my main squeeze this morning (sans kids!). Beer and wine are both covered under the tax exemption. I happened to mention to her that video game consoles were also included - I am not a gamer and only knew of this because an employee mentioned this to me yesterday.

She then suggests we get one.

So now, here I am, sitting with cases of beer, wine and a PS5. Not sure if I’ll keep the PS5, or return unopened, but either way, it was an exchange with SWMBO that is one for the books!

Goes without saying, but I hope to see a thread about this trip.

Rain gear. Bibs and jacket. Heading to Venice, LA this afternoon to chase yellowfin tuna in the morning. Gonna be 50°, overcast and about 100% of getting wet. LFG!

Have fun!  Share pics. Last year I was out breaking ice on a boat to get out to big water. Big water in lake Michigan.  Dodging ice chunks in open water. 50 sounds like a heatwave.

Catch them up!   Don’t forget to bring some soy and wasabi on the boat.  Take a chunk of the shoulder off and put on ice for 30 mins then slice thin and dip.
    Tight lines!

That’s the boat we went on. 43’ Freeman catamaran. Weather was extremely uncooperative. Wind blowing 20, light rain, seas 2-4’s. We boated 2 tuna and a 70# wahoo. Lost 2 other wahoo at the boat. Back to the dock by 1pm due to worsening conditions.

This morning I learned that credit card companies have agreements with reoccurring payment processors. They automatically update the payment information when a new card is issued.  It's likely in the fine print when you sign up for a reoccurring payment.

Snake River Farms goodies. Brisket, ribeyes, wagyu chuck roast (oh my)….free flat iron steaks. Won’t argue with them

Must have been in those updated terms of service emails that I scoured over.

    This bothers me, a lot.
When I bought my latest car I got six free months of sirius xm, and a good discount for another year's service, which I purchased.
When that year was up, they then wanted me to pay around triple the amount, and I called to cancel.  Got a 45-minute runaround (my first time) until I finally got the discount pricing for another year.
When that year was up, I got smart (or so I thought) and sent them a snail-mail letter, Registered, explicitly telling them that I would continue for another year if they could give me the discount; if not, Cancel.
Well, they didn't communicate with me at all, and tripled my price.  I called my CC company and cancelled the transaction.  No word from sirius, but they charged my CC again the next month, and I cancelled the transaction again; I asked my CC provider if I could block any further charges from them on my card.  They said I couldn't, but I could keep cancelling individual billings (WTF?)  They told me I could cancel out the card and get a new one (why should I have to do that!?!?!)  I was charged again the next month, and again I cancelled the billing.  This time, I got an email from sirius: "there seems to be a problem, please call us at 1-800-F*C-KY**",  I did not call them, but responded to the email, "Look, I sent you a REGISTERED LETTER, which I know you accepted, giving you my terms.  Accept my offer, otherwise CANCEL!!"
They charged my CC again the next month, and I again denied the charge.  NOW they called me at home, and I ended up screaming at them (I won't repeat what I said, I probably can't even remember, but it was in all CAPS).  She said, "Let me put you on hold and I'll connect you to..."  I cut her off (and dammit, I was FUMING by that point) and said, "Wait, listen..."
Then grabbed my trusty police whistle on my side table, and blasted that criminal as loudly as I could.  They hung up.
They charged my CC again the next month, and I again denied the charge.  I debated about cancelling that card and getting a new one (hence my response to @kl8ton's post), but that's the last time they did so; they finally gave up.

If my doctor ever tells me that I have an incurable brain cancer or something, and I have only 3 weeks to live, I WILL be filling up a rental van with fertilizer and motor oil, driving to sirius HQ, and blowing those miserable SOBs off the face of the planet.  Count on it.

Geez, between this and what happened in the WH today, I need to go for a long walk.  Without my coat.  Or maybe even shoes.

Too easy to just cancel the card and go again.  Given the number of times I have had a card compromised by skimmers or businesses hacked, just know where the card is on file for auto payment and update.
Matter of life these days.  Likely jinxed as it has been a couple of years but...

Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Well, I don't think it's too easy.  I usually memorize my card #, expiration date, and 3-digit code.  When I get a new card I have to start over, not to mention updating amazoid, Apple, my local services, etc etc.
Isn't it just much easier, and more effective, to blow businesses up?   ;)

I would be mad at my card issuer @Botch.  I effing hate credit cards but they are usually good for stuff like this especially if you can get their fraud department on the phone.

Perhaps this is not too OT. Finally showing the XL the same love I give the MiniMax with a few upgrades, love that everything is available at our local grill store, instant gratification. Let the cleaning begin!

@GrateEggspectations not long with the way I drink. Unfortunately it is from Lowe’s and came unfilled (and with a warning not to use around fire… noted).

45 more pounds of dog food. For the dog that ripped the collar of my jacket last night. I discovered it was missing after wearing the jacket all morning. I think someone has earned a neutering.
