I hate car shopping more than just about anything.  Picked this up yesterday for my daughter.  Hopefully it will keep her safe.  Crash ratings were all very high (Overall 5 out of 5 stars from NHTSA)  Was going to give her my modified Jeep, but saner heads (her mom) prevailed.

I don't have horse money yet... so mine got the TAOS, this only a few months after she pinballed her Nissan Kicks between two pine trees..

    Very nice ride..
    Have:

    Had:
    LBGE / Lang 60D / Cookshack SM150 / Stumps Stretch / Stumps Baby

    Fat Willies BBQ

Rofl!  Poorsche.  Love it, my daughter's dream car is a Porsche Macan.

Thankfully it is just a Cap!  On one of my first homes I had an AC go bad.  I didn't know anything about them, except ACs were expensive and I wasn't sure how I was going to pay for a repair.  Turned out it was a Cap only.  Never been so excited to pay someone $80.

True.   My neighbor 2 doors down is our AC guy and he always treats me fairly.    He has rebuilt this particular unit and has always charged me very fairly.    Of course 2 years ago he finally told me the downstairs was officially shot so I replaced that.    This time he started stroking that lever and I told him "nope".

That is the way. Find a roofer, plumber, and AC person you can trust.  Those are the trades I have had the most issues with, and once you find some you trust, hold onto them!

I would keep my older units running as long as I could too.  My parents had 3 units installed in their new build about 7 years ago.  2 of the 3 died this past month and replacement is only a couple more bucks than repairs on these Carrier units.

yes sir, our roofer is a family friend as well who we trust.    Fortunately I am pretty handy, although I know I do not know everything, but (knock on wood) so far I've been able to handle all plumbing needs.    I used to charge up the AC units myself with refrigerant but since the new stuff is out I haven't had to mess with that.

Good to know people and vice versa...

It's about as bone stock as they come. Someone ordered it with the tow package and running boards but backed out when it arrived at the dealership. So my Dad jumped on it. My Dad is the type that will spend 300 hours researching a vehicle and then teach the salesman what he's trying to sell him. This was the polar opposite. No F's were given. He just needs something more reliable than his 2010 Chevy HHR SS with 30K miles on it. (The engine goes into a limp mode sporadically) The dealer and a tune shop couldn't find the issue. It's a heat issue somewhere. It's runs fantastic in anything under 30 degrees outside but once in warm weather it runs like garbage. So he went with my recommendation on a very basic truck. A 2023 Ford Ranger. (I told him the first place he needs to go and visit is a tint shop.) I kind of like the steelies but I know they aren't for everyone. I hope this truck lasts awhile as he'd be driving a base white 2022 2x4 Toyota Tacoma otherwise as he put an offer in for one a few days ago. Hopefully this was the right decision....

One of my favorite trucks was a mid-90s Dodge Dakota. Bench seat,  4-cyl, manual transmission, standard cab, manual windows and doorlocks, everything but the seat was plastic.  No floormats or anything that might seem to add comfort or luxury.

The Cake song "Stickshifts & Safety Belts" always makes me think of that truck and highschool shenanigans.

That is a kick ass compressor, super quiet.  I have that one and the 1 gallon version.

you’ll love it.  Not sure it will drive the extractor full blast, but it should work

The extractor is at the shop. I have a larger compressor there. Can't remember what exactly. I remember you posting this one a while back and it was $169 so I nabbed it for the house.

Never thought I'd see this available here in Florida. Stopped at my favorite BBQ place this afternoon for a brisket sandwich and found out they had opened a meat market next door. So I ate my sandwich and then checked the new place out.
Never thought I would see Elk and Bison available here. Bought some Elk Medallions and gave them to my Egging neighbor.

Haven’t had Elk, minus maybe once in a restaurant, but bison used to be a staple. We would routinely make homemade bison burgers with ground. We miss it!

Sounds like a good find for you. Enjoy!

@GrateEggspectations, @Ozzie_Isaac, @fishlessman - What goes around sometimes comes around.
Egging neighbor gave me this elk cooked on his egg. Ate the cutoff piece and will make a meal with the other. It was good.
The other is ground deer from his grandsons first kill out west.
In my opinion, that is a huge thing to give away, even if he has more in his freezer.

I was already full from the meal I had just before he called me to come down to his house.

That was a pork collar I cooked on the minimax and paired with French cut green beans.

So today I had brisket, elk, and pork. And I have sliced brisket in my refrigerator so I think I am good on meat for a bit.

Better to be lucky than good right there.  Nailed the trifecta.  Congrats.

I gave up fishing when I was still in my teens; got tired of guys telling me "You shoulda been here yesterday/last week!"
So I've been out of the loop for half a century.  Copper fishing lines?  Why?

salmon like 55 degree water, in the summer the water is 70 degrees plus from the surface down to about 45/50 feet. 200 feet of copper line gets me down deep where the fish are. i fish it off planer boards 75 feet off the side of the boat so with that setup i have a 150 foot wide spread when trolling which allows me to fish 10 or more rods depending on how many people are on board. typically fish two off the boards, two on rod jiggers working off windshield wipers off the side, two flat lead lines straight off the back, and two down riggers straight down. the idea is to spread everything out to avoid tangled lines. each rod has a different presentation and not every presentation works on a given day. typically trolling lines are lead core in maine, it sags and reacts differently than copper and monofilament and fly lines when fished. i have 16 rod holders and another area to tie extra rods up out of the way. im constantly changing setups til i find out whats working.
