Three short selfie videos documenting the ups and downs.
The last one showing repentance and pleading with everyone to get vaccinated.
The guy was a trucker, perhaps playing his last video on giant screen at Ottawa’s Parliament Hill 24/7 would be more effective than sending the cops  =)

I have had 3 shots. I will wait until they have a revised vaccine that works for Delta and at least one Omicron before I have a 4th. Not antivax just want them to get it in gear. Pfizer and Moderna both said that with their method it is a matter of days to modify for new variants.

Never met a shot I didn't like.  I volunteered for two different sponsored trials in 2020-never got the shot.  Not slowing down now.  Besides I can serve as a guinea pig for all you less senior members.

The polio vaccine is a four-shot protocol, just fyi.

The flu shot is an annual type deal.  It greatly impacts the extent to which the flu can make you deathly ill.  Doesn’t totally prevent you from getting infected, but you’re definitely better off with it than without.

Yep, this is a good strategy if you have ready access to a booster shot.  The wife and I were just discussing something similar today on the ride home from DC.

Took 1st booster in December as soon as I was eligible. Plan to take 2nd in June when approved/eligible again.  Rapid test kits free and in abundance around here the last little while, govt plans to stop distributing come April 7, not sure what next steps will be.

If you are within 5 months of your last shot and especially if you've gotten a breakthrough infection, getting a boost closer to flu season is a good strategy.  Also I would hope there's a newer vaccine available that incorporates antigens from Delta/Omicron.

I'm expecting it to become very much like the current annual flu shot, eventually.  I think each year for that they mix up a new cocktail based on whatever is circulating globally.

boosters are easy to get now, pfizer is just a walk in to the pharmacy, moderna is a day away with appointment, and i can get pfizer shots at the local hospital with my maintenance pass when due. went with the moderna

Yep, hopefully covid will transition to the endemic stage (like flu) once enough get vax'd, survive a bout (or more) with covid and/or continue to ignore science and just fade away.  Herd mentality requires some culling of the herd.

Speaking of that, kind of ironic an anti vaxxer in Corona, CA, got culled by Covid.

Latest from The Atlantic on Covid shots:  Frictionless conduit here-

Boosters are officially back, and kids under 5 may soon get their first vaccinations. We do the math on the “magic number.” Then: Maybe don’t make happiness your main goal.

    The next round

    Cartoon of four band-aids

    (The Atlantic)

America is yet again locking and loading its syringes. This week, the FDA and CDC green-lit another round of COVID-19 boosters for everyone over 50, and certain immunocompromised people of any age. Pfizer and Moderna’s miniaturized shots for infants and toddlers are also hopefully coming soon. That’s potentially millions of new doses to give in the next few months. Some will be first shots. Some will be fifths. Perhaps the rest of the population will be due for another round soon too (though the jury’s still out on whether we can afford such a big distribution effort, with federal funds all dried up). Because no one seems to know for sure yet how many COVID-19 doses will finally, finally be enough.

The magic number almost certainly won’t be the same for everyone—and the coronavirus might be such a moving target that we’ll all end up needing annual-ish shots, as we do with flu. People at higher risk of getting seriously sick, whether because of age, health conditions, or occupation, may need to zhuzh their immunity more often than others. The ultimate answer will also depend on what we want our vaccines to accomplish. If it’s a shield against severe disease, hospitalization, and death, we might not need to juice up that often. But if we’re after a total blockade against all infections, boosters may need to continue at a very rapid clip. The trick will be getting people to come back for their shots, again and again.

Maybe someday researchers will concoct a shot that provides more lasting protection, perhaps with a recipe that sustainably tickles our immunity, or is variant-proof. We’ll also need fewer shots if transmission goes down and stays down—which will slash the likelihood that more nasty variants sprout as well.

For now, though, we’re working with the shots we have. When it comes to mRNA shots, at least, having a trio of doses under your belt seems like a solid number for most people, especially now that we’re living in the era of Omicron, which slips past many of the defenses raised by two injections alone. The rule of three will probably end up holding true for kids too, even though no one under 12 has yet been okayed for a booster, and Moderna is planning to ask the FDA to authorize a two-dose series of its under-6 shot.

And for those at “higher risk,” as designated by the CDC? As my colleague Rachel Gutman reported today, getting a second booster now probably won’t hurt (though she points out that the benefits might be a little murky too). It might not be a bad idea for vulnerable people to do so, as the Omicron subvariant known as BA.2 continues to hopscotch across the country. Some experts have warned that we may soon see another rise in cases, though no one’s yet sure when that bump might arrive, or how big it might be. To really weather a springtime surge, though, we’ll need more than boosters. First vaccines for the unvaccinated remain a priority—and we’ll have to shore up our defenses with the same tools we know work against the virus, every single time.

Unfortunately survey says this guy is gonna win again in the Ontario June election, with a long list of candies handed out or promised...
    - a buck a beer
    - vehicle license fees removal, retroactive to Mar 2020
    - removal of vehicle emission test
    - daycare fees cut
    - minimum wage increase, which would have been higher now if he didn't freeze it when he came into power
    - temporary carbon tax and gas tax cut, to be effective a month after the election
    - no more masking even with 100,000 new cases a day, versus less than 100 a day when it was mandatory

its interesting that some of the least vaccinated states are some of the safest places right now looking at the covid maps

While I would love to claim that, just look at the pattern of variants outbreaks. Northern states are first the Southern states come 2 to 3 months later. It all has to do with climate, Northerners cluster inside in the winter and Southerners in the summer.
