And has recently caught flack for urging his supporters to take the vaccine. The same vaccines developed under Operation Warp Speed, a program that he initiated. Life is strange.

On the local news this noon, the first story was:
    1.  Over 900 children hospitalized for COVID in utard.  Yesterday.

    The second story was:
    2.  In one of their first votes in their 40-day "reign of terror", our state legislature voted to overrule the mask mandates passed by SL and Summit counties (encompassing the democrat/urban/educated/wealthy cities of Salt Lake City and Park City).

The next local who tells me utard is a "family values" state, and cherishes their children, will get a Size-13 dental rearrangement.  Dammit!

Most of the kids hospitalized for covid are kids that are hospitalized for something else and tested positive for covid.  That said, I'm not trying to whitewash how terrible this pandemic is.

Regarding the screwed up politics, we need some rock/paper/scissors hierarchy so the most local of government, which arguably most represents a small geographic area, can have some control in cases like this where a minority of conspiracy laced partisans don't kill you and your family.  Obviously this works both ways.  Can't we just defer this kind of health policy to the experts who study communicable diseases with MDs?

There's really no accountability to bad public policy and politicians spewing dangerous lies, just to pander to voters.  I really would like to see some of these anti-vax politicians or politicians that force school districts that were managing transmission through recommended health policy to abandon that policy, through legislation, or edict or whatever (think FL gov) to get sued when those policies kill people.

This rarely happens, which is why they just do whatever, screw constituents lives.  The Michigan governor is one of the only cases that I've seen someone get into serious legal trouble for decisions they made (or failed to make) that impacted public health.

@nolaegghead - as a resident of FL I get to deal with the misguided executive orders that our current governor has created. The lockstep thinking of these elected officials is just mind boggling. The public policy he is forcing on the citizens of this state amounts to practicing medicine without a license in my opinion.

There is definitely too much complacency about the disease in children, because their odds of death are lower than old people. So far, 1131 kids have died, most in the last six months. Some 20% of those were previously healthy. The leading underlying conditions for them to die are obesity and asthma - not uncommon. Death, of course, isn’t the only outcome. Around 100,000 have been hospitalized, and we don’t know the long term effects yet of COVID. In the same time period, 3 kids have died from the flu. Although vaccines don’t work quite as well with the omicron variant, they are hugely better than being unvaccinated. Anyone who uses the relative risk of death in children to justify not doing anything for them is a murderer.

John- you’re fuc-ked up! Are you smoking dope? You make no sense whatsoever.  Not sure if you understand what “accountability” means in the real world, as you don’t deal with that in the “education” field.  I lived in a corporate environment, and the board of directors would not put up with the $hit that universities deem acceptable.  Grow some balls and be accountable.

And don’t forget to comment on your @Terpderpitude troll account!
Every time I read one of your posts i find myself searching for online nootropic  supplements or possibly a Lumosity subscription to try to get back the brain cells I lost as a result. I know the science behind them is dubious but desperate times call for desperate measures.

  • Yes….a very bad week for Biden.  His big speech will become his demise!  Really don’t think he has much time left as president.  Nor his VP.  Sad time for America!

There is no universe where Hillary runs again.  I know there is talk of that in some circles on the right, but it's not happening.

I know that she won’t get financial backing or any significant political backing. But the only time Hilary won’t be scheming is if an aspen stake is driven through her heart, her head is cut off, her mouth is stuffed with garlic, and her corpse is doused in holy water. She might settle for being a mandarin though.

  • Not sure this sort of thing - people filming themselves having tense interactions with folks simply enforcing the mask rules they've told are in place - will ever make any sense to me.  Never mind trying to pick a fight with an elderly woman working in a library, while your child looks on.
