walking through costco, we saw their $600 king size foam mattress. I figured if it's terrible I could return it.
it is the best nights sleep i've ever had. i routinely sleep through the night now, no waking up. the top is soft enough that you feel cushioned, but not so soft that you can't roll over.
only problem is it was heavy as heck, and so was my king mattress. delivery, set up, and removal are a PITA that I would have paid to avoid.
Bought a King 14" firm memory foam from Overstock 3 years ago. It's totally broken down now. It was fantastic for the first year or two. Hey, it was $500 at the time so I can't really complain.
We've been looking at Sleep Number. Following this one tightly. -

Bought a sleep number when they first came out, had it for ten years, moved to Tempurpedic. It's in the spare bedroom, didn't care for it. Bought a Stearns and Foster at Costco I like but it's about done. I'm going back to the sleep number bed soon.

I bought a mattress a couple years ago, forget what brand, couple K if I remember, Rotate it every couple months..I must be in the lucky crowd as I can fall asleep anywhere I close my eyes, staying awake late is more of an issue than falling asleep for meVisalia, Ca @lkapigian

oh nuts. had it a few months. i'll be ticked if it dies soon! i've never had a mattress last more than 3 year or so, so at $600 bucks i'd replace it every few if needed. but if it wears out that fast, not sure even a costco return would be worth it, cuz the thing is so heavy and bulky.

First, tell us how you wore out the old mattress, Ron.

We’ve had a Leesa king mattress for four years and so far it’s been great. Paid $900A $12k Purple mattress? Quick glance at their site shows about $5k being their highest price, where’s that other $7k coming from?

Sleep number camp here too - wife broke her back years ago and needs a super firm brick to sleep on. Myself - just a normal medium cushion but a brick would kill me. The adjustable of ours has also been a life saver - particularly when she was on bed rest while pregnant - but also when we've had to move. The sleep number can be moved by one person since it breaks down into pieces easily.Formerly of Houston, TX - Now Located in Bastrop, TX

I can sleep on anything! For example, the LSU/Clemson game started at 8PM last night. I fell asleep in my recliner at 6 or 7 and woke up after the game. Missed every single minute! No dinner either (had a bowl of soup at midnight or so). I don't need no steenkin mattress!
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

@YukonRon I think the answer is let your wife choose it.
We bought a tempurpedic maybe 7 years ago, I can’t remember. A middle of the road one ($5kish for a cal king) and we’ve been very happy with it. It does sleep hot but doesn’t seem to have compressed anywhere.
We’ve replaced all other traditional mattresses in the house and set the kids up with Zinus mattresses and bed frames from Amazon. Kids (adult kids) have been on them for maybe 5 years and have had zero complaints.Love you bro! -
Wife doesn’t like the foam ones, so we have Sterns & Foster pillow tops.

If you're a Clemson fan, you spared yourself the agony of the first loss in 29 games.

https://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1219946/ot-purple-mattressI (honestly) have a Dr. Scholls Gell top. It weighs a ton, but it’s ice cold in the summer, unfortunately in the winter too. Smells like cheese though. Our best investment was the adjustable frame. If you have a cold or allergies you can incline just a bit and it helps.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++Austin, Texas. Bought a Purple at the Denver Mattress store their new Purple 2 but it was too firm as i am side sleeper. Exchanged it after 60 days for the new Purple 3 no questions asked and have been enjoying it for a 9 months now. Will see how things go but it is cooler and I get a good nights sleep. I have had 3 back surgeries but have no fusion so support and comfort are important for me.

I've got a tempurpedic and love it.
-
We had a Sleep Number for about eight years. We liked that I can make my side firm and Wilma can make her side soft. It wore out in the middle. I had to sleep with a pillow under my knees to prevent hyper-extension. We wanted a change. I got tired of repositioning the mattress daily.
We just pulled the trigger on a Winkbed Plus mattress. We’ve only had it a couple of weeks and I’m sleeping better. I’ll have a more informed opinion when I shake this nagging cold & cough.Flint, Michigan -
Tempurpedic here for about 9 years. It sleeps hot; no problem in the summer when I have no covers and the windows open, but I'm constantly readjusting/sweating/freezing thru the winter.
Gotta say, though: my 59-yr-old back feels fantastic!___________"When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set."

So Bridget just told me she hates our sleep number bed that we've had for like 8 years. I'm fine with it, but I loved our old bed, now in the spare bedroom.I probably spent 14 hours modifying a sleigh bedframe to hold the sleep number articulating frame, having to account for the structural connections, clearance for moving parts and all that.Oh well. She's always right.______________________________________________I love lamp..
