It may be surprising to some, but I just spent a good chunk of time in the U.K. and didn’t get stabbed even once.

It's illegal in most states for people to carry in a concealed fashion, butterfly knives, switchblades or knives with blades over 4 inches in length.
Yet the National Machete Association remains silent instead of fighting for our rights. Where is the hew and cry for the rights of knife owners? -

WeberWho said:Yep. Funny how bad guys only use gunsThey certainly don't. They just tend to kill a lot more people with them, much more quickly. Google how many mass stabbings there have been, and how many folks end up getting killed in them compared to your typical mass shooting. This ain't algebra Geronimo.sound it out yaidjit

@WeberWho: Sad story. Never said that stabbings don’t happen. Just that diverting a discussion about the U.S.’ gun issue to relatively insignificant statistics about stabbings seems like a red herring.

Gun nuts really wanna believe that if guns were banned in the US, the same people would still get killed, just with knives. It's not an argument that would survive a high school debate class, but it's one you'll hear time and again because they've all been brainwashed by gun rights propaganda.

My cousin was mugged with a butcher knife. I've had a butcher knife pulled on me after being concealed behind his jacket at a bar. I wouldn't take any of his or his homies sh!t
My intent was to say it does happen and unfortunately has some tragic outcomes at times.

Comparing the U.S. with anywhere (U.K., Australia, etc.) is fallacious. Those countries weren't founded with the idea that citizenry should be able to protect itself from a tyrannical government. We certainly will never get to a place were the public has the means to defend itself against the government. Nor will full scale gun confiscation and compliance ever happen. So what do we do?
Maybe start addressing the problems of culture and mental health. Until we as a society start taking those things seriously, things will never change. Both of those things start at home. As parents, grandparents and family members it is our responsibility to help those who need it.Las Vegas, NV -

I asked this question before. What do we do? Through all of this "debate" I've heard one suggestion. No wonder they can't agree on anything or get anything done in Washington. We have created a massive problem. There is no way to recover all of the guns. Stroll over to Google and do a search for gun sales since WW2. Very few of those guns have worn out or been destroyed. No way if guns are outlawed you get a fraction back. There needs to be another way. @Battleborn makes great points

Obviously a convict penal colony that became a country did NOT in fact form a new country to protect itself from a tyrannical government

First, start with the NRA and get them back to what they initially represented.
Second, being the most innovative country in the world on how to kill massive numbers of people, with a single weapon, let's figure out how to stop that. Surely we can find someone that is innovative enough or even use past historical precedent to minimize the slaughter of American citizens. Start with the firearms themselves, then the people who find it necessary to own weapons by the dozens, designed to kill as many as possible, as fast as possible.
Third, vote every motherfxckxr out of office that accepts any money from the lobbying group, the NRA.
It might not be the ultimate answer, but it is a start.
I used to be a supporter of the NRA, but now, the direction is not what I originally supported. I would go back in a minute, if their entire focus was back on for hunters and outdoors enthusiasts and quit using the threat of loss of the second ammendment as a money raising scare tactic, for ultra right wing political endorsements."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber
