@Botch the GBSD should be awarded around September- ready to come back to work yet?

Got some calls today to discuss phenolic ablatives for the program.  Nothing like a 50 year annuity...
It's been a month.  I've been sleeping in an hour, have a leisurely breakfast, read the paper, and then start working a home project.
Then, I look up at the clock, and it's past suppertime!   :o

I'm keeping completely busy, but two things have happened that I wasn't expecting.
One, I'm feeling SOOO much better, physically.  Every morning I get up, I just feel better, almost like I"m 15 years younger.  I wasn't expecting that; maybe there was more stress there than I realized.  Point for staying retired.
Two, Loneliness; I wasn't expecting this one either.  I know that I'm an extreme introvert; the interaction with my coworkers thru the week was about all I could stand, I really valued my nights, and weekend alone.  But, now that it's ALL by myself, that's not quite the right balance, either.  Point for getting another job, at least part-time.

Springtime is when the job fairs around here usually ramp up.  I may be visiting, if just for a part-time job; but not sure yet.

@Wolfpack, I'm curious as to what you've worked on before; PM me if you want.   :)

  • 4 new tires to be installed Friday. One of my tires was literally screwed and passed the pain on to my wallet.
  • Picked this one up today. Stupid Illinois 72 hour wait. Let's make you wait 3 days to pick up a gun you buy so you don't go commit a crime of passion, because I obviously can't use the one I am carrying at the time or the others at the house........

Used to be 7 days in Guilford County North Carolina regardless of a CC permit. You had to go the sheriffs department and file paperwork to buy a handgun. You’d have to go back up there to pick up a copy of the paperwork and then go to the dealer. $5 fee.

Great gun. Much easier to break down compared to the earlier models.

    'nuff said... ;)

I bought upgrade items there for both my 22/45 (also a Mark IV) and 10/22 takedown. The trigger upgrade they offer turns the trigger into something extremely sweet.

For optic, also check out Holosun.

I switched over to the finger groove grips on mine. I found it to be a better fit and feel

  • I want the hive grips from TK for sure. Should have it in my hands Monday afternoon.

Building target stands right now, need to get some chains and S hooks. I'm using sawhorse brackets and 2x4 for my plate rack. Some pvc for some cardboard stands

  • Just got it assembled, and will try out this weekend on both vehicles.  The garage floor has a lot of street salt on it, so it will get a good power washing too.
  • Getting 4 tires installed now. On the way over a passing car kicked a rock into my windshield. So I will leave the tire store and go to the glass shop. Hopefully they can drill and glue it.

Apparently it is a counter-drone system.
I am thinking it’ll do a job on squirrels too.

Love the dramatic music as they track a drone but when the thing fires it's just a "pfft".

They should add a big sound system to play a "proper" firing sound - the A10's GAU-8 "brrrrrrrrrrt" would be a good choice. :)

We have a gun calibration facility in the Air Logistics Complex, dug into the side of a hill (underneath the golf course!).  I'm told, when they fire the GAU-8, its all robotized, the hoomans actually have to leave the facility when it's fired, the shock waves are so great.
