Cruising on Amazon. Bought a Shun paring knife, the new Michael Symone cookbook, and deodorizers to put in my Merril boots.
Just put a Shun in the Amazon cart. Hopefully the lady gets the hint.

Bought an 8qt Duo as part of the 'black Friday' deals on Amazon. Arrived over the weekend... I have the 3qt that I use for making steal cut oats in (almost fills it). The 8qt is primarily going to be used to cook dried beans for when I make chili. The 6qt Crock Pot I have handles 3# of beans OK, but I want to be able to do 4# for the coming batch. Plus have them cook better/faster than they do in the Crock Pot. It was more than 50% off (the 8qt Instant Pot) when I pulled the trigger.

Just bought an Instant pot Duo Evo, and I'm wondering if anyone else has one of these newer models with the sous vide function? There's no circulation, but I suppose temp control could be good. Any bleeding edgers out there?

You don't need circulation.   The Demi I have has no circulation.   Time is the great equalizer here.

If you get the chance... I'd like to hear your opinion about fitting a whole roaster chicken into the 6qt, versus the 8qt.  Thanks!

That depends... If I'm going to cook a chicken, it will either be in the oven, or on my BGE.
The insert is 9-1/2" diameter by 7" tall (inside dimensions). If you can fit it, you can cook it... Depending on the cooking method and such (of course).

so far so good, the dashboard is telling me the spare tyre needs air.  gas mileage on trips is over 20 mpg which is way more than what i would have expected, my old dodge with a v6 125hp motor would get 11 this time of year

Just took care of a couple of long-distance gifts ordered from the New Braunfels smokehouse.  (https://www.nbsmokehouse.com)
Have no idea if any good or not but decided to change it up this year.  I will get the reviews in a few weeks.

Their stuff used to be a lot better. But it’s still pretty good. What did you get?

Ordered their honey cured ham , smoked pork loin and boneless turkey breast.  Figured that would "cover the waterfront".  No, I did not order the brisket... B)

That area is around my old college stomping grounds.  I'm on the road getting close.  Driving through Baytown right now, which is a geographical and metaphysical armpit.

Interesting tidbit: Many manufacturers sharpen to an unsustainable level for demos and delivery, so as to impress buyers and potential buyers alike. This can lead to easy chipping as a result of the razor-thin edge. Not saying this is true of Shuns - I have no idea; only that it has been true for some very high end Japanese steel I have previously purchased.
