What would you name Austin if you had the choice?

"......the city of Austin’s Equity Office suggested renaming the city in a report about existing Confederate monuments that was published this week."

I wonder what % of Austin residents are even familiar with the origin of the name?

I would love that, big middle finger to all, you asked for it, you got it.
    How about:
    Worst traffic in Texas, Texas
    Its not that weird, Texas
    Nobody works, Texas
If we did not have lakes and UT, we would be screwed, Texas

    the list could go on...

P.S. I like Austin just not most of the people, hell I was born there so can say that, I bet 90% of the people there can't.

I would leave it as is. If I had to change it, I would go with either Muhle or Merkur. You have to admit, Muhle, Texas has a certain catchy ring to it.

Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

    Status- Standing by.

The greatest barrier against all wisdom, the stronghold against knowledge itself, is the single thought, in ones mind, that they already have it all figured out.

  • We have the same thing here.  Flint Township is not the same as the City of Flint.  Flint Township never had a water problem because it never switched from the Detroit Water System.  However, folks here are tired of explaining to others that they aren't affiliated with the stupidity the City of Flint does.  It's on the November ballot to change the name of Flint Township.  Before the ballot initiative,  they asked folks to submit names for consideration to the Township Board.  I suggested "Sweetwater", but that didn't make the cut.

At first I was surprised you didn’t suggest “Anus”, but then I remembered you’ve petitioned to have Biloxi renamed that.  Hard to beat the ring of Anus, Mississippi.

Antonio López de Santa Anna, or just Santa Anna, seems appropriate but then again many Austin residents probably don't know who he was either.

I just took the time to click on the link and read the article. You can change all the names you want, you still won’t change how a single person feels about certain things. If anything, you will farther cement their feelings by doing such PC nonsense as this all the time.

All the triggering deeds happened in the USA.

I wonder how long before they push to rename America?

Snowflake? Perhaps “Weird”. There are signs all over town that say “keep Austin weird”.

There is Muleshoe, TX and a Muhle Creek.  May need to go the Merkur route.

I hope you’re enjoying Houston and the lack of traffic.

I was born and raised in Silicon Valley - before there was a Silicon Valley.  I wouldn’t choose to move back there now, but I’m certainly not mad at it or the people that live there now.  I can say that, I was born there.  Shjt, anyone can say that, I don’t care.
    Love you bro!
