I spoke to Kitty about where to stash Ol’ Mortimer until we move it to Shelter 2 on Saturday. She said there is a driveway next to a dumpster that would work, or she said we might could stash it next to the pavilion in the campground. I would rather do that since if we want a whole hog for Saturday, it will have to go on the cooker around 6 PM Friday.

Then of course we will need volunteers to help feed sticks all night. I’m also bringing a 36” Blackstone and a 3 burner propane table for boiling water, cooking pasta, or whatever else anyone may need to heat up.

By my count we we are at 43 days to go.

I think we can manage to find you some volunteers for that.  Shouldn’t be a problem.  The challenge will be to make sure they stay sober enough to remember they have a job to do.

There will be plenty of room for a brisket or 10 to go with the hog if we don’t want to tie up an Egg or other cooker.

Just picked up 5 #'s of plate beef ribs today from a local butcher in Lexington.  Should I bring it down Friday for a 6 hour cook?  Along with a cooler full of Cheerwine of course. Nothing goes better with BBQ than Cheerwine.

Yes, there was. I put out the fire. I promise I won't do that to Mortimer, as long as the fire is contained within the pit.

This works out great, because I don’t think Dwayne has found a place to sleep yet, and now he has one - right next to Mortimer.
