Total Eclipse of the Hard

We're headed down to Clayton, GA on Friday. Planning to stay a couple of nights with friends in a mountain home just outside of Lake Rabun. This area is basically right under the main path of the eclipse. Reports are they're expecting some ridiculous number of people in the area. I don't think we'll have any problems heading down on Friday, but getting out might be... interesting. We might try some back roads up to Asheville/I-40 and then hope the highway isn't too backed up by the time we get there.
Anyway, I'm bringing the MiniMax and planning on some easy (i.e. not hard) cooks. At NCBB2, @YukonRon did some phenomenal beef tenderloin sliders with some horseradish. I might riff on that a little bit Saturday night and use @Eggcelsior 's tiger sauce and throw in some freshly sliced onions. I'll try to make more than enough so we'll have leftovers to use for a picnic on top of the mountain on Monday for the main event. We'll probably do some ribeyes Sunday night, but I'm also thinking I could SV some ribs. We'll be out and about on the lake and such during the day, so I won't have a ton of time to tend the Egg and make sure I don't burn down the mountainside. That would suck bonobo dong.
Anyone else traveling over the weekend for the eclipse? Any BGE cooks planned?
Oh and I'm sure the usual suspects are laughing at the title of this thread for all the wrong reasons. I did that on purpose, jerkwads.

Well, you suckered me on the title.
We're pretty close to the path, so I have some shades(iso certified) and I'll try to sneak away from work for the main event. -

I live pretty close to the 100% line. We thought about driving to Taccoa Falls to see the full thing, but then heard about the massive crowds that were expected. I'll just stay home and watch the 99% from my front porch.Jefferson, GA

Hope yall enjoy your time in Clayton. It's beautiful up that way.

We're going to Charleston for the eclipse. Not planning to cook at all. Just using it as an excuse to visit a fun city where my wife used to live and see some old friends.

Sounds like a great trip! I grew up in and around Clayton, Tiger and Lake Burton, a few centuries ago. My folks still live on Burton. Would join ya for some of those delicious Sliders but its just a little to far from the NC coast!. Maybe next trip! Pics please...

Southern Idaho is talking about making I-15 northbound on both sides before the eclipse, and both sides southbound after. I had no idea it'd be that popular, especially since the eclipse was Predicted By Science and most of utard is republican.
Ooops, never mind, I didn't say that.
There's a stretch of salt-marsh west of Brigham City, on the way to Thiokol (where I used to work) that I always thought looked like Mordor, in a way. Instead of photographing the eclipse itself (which are basically boring dichromatic images of two intersecting spheres, 'cept for the corona shots which thousands of folks with better equipment will shoot and post on the web for my viewing pleasure) I plan to shoot the "mordor" area in dawn/dusk-level light, coming from almost straight above; could have some cool shots.
I had planned to do the same in an interesting area near Idaho Falls, but when the Motel 6 prices hit $800 two weeks ago I made a tactical adjustment to my plans.___________"When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set."

My Beautiful Wife and I, if it will work out for us, will witness the solar eclipse from 14,270 ft ASL, on the highest mountain on the Continental Divide Trail, and the 10th highest in Colorado. It is one of the three main trails in the USA, along with the Appalachian Trail, and the Pacific Coast Trail. We have been on all 3.
We will be doing water, trail mix, and Jerky, black cherries, boiled eggs, banannas along with other potassium supplements.(it is what you do when you are old and hike.)
Most of the folks in that area of the C-lo Rockies will be on a mass exodus to Wyoming, just a couple hours from where we will be, for the 100%. We will see it at 98%.
Our son will see it at 100%, where NASA has mentioned as the best spot to see it in the USA, in Western Kentucky, three and half hours southwest from Louisville. He will be dining on typical male college food (I shudder to imagine).
Hope everyone has a safe solar eclipse.

Not sure what I'm going to cook just yet. They are advising local residents to take care of all shopping before the weekend since there is going to be such an influx of visitors to the upstate. I plan on walking out of my back door and looking up. Have a great weekend. Clayton is a beautiful town as is most of the surrounding area. Sounds like you have a great time planned.

This whole eclipse deal, and the peeps behind it, cracks me up.

I will be viewing the eclipse from the parking lot of my office on M.L. King Jr. Drive in SW Atlanta. Some of us have to help keep the economy flowing. May grab a veggie plate from the soul food restaurant next door.
