A wood ford vote for me as far as bourbon goes. Lately, my go to for a cool evening is a single malt scotch with one cube of ice. Macallan 12 for now in that dept.

Bulleit is my everyday choice, but of late I've really been digging the Buffalo Trace."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike
"The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand." - Deep Throat -
I really like four roses single barrel and I used to be able to get it at a pretty good price when my liquor store would buy a barrel, but lately it is always over $40. I only like it about 5-10% more than Buffalo Trace...not twice as much...so I am usually drinking BT for $20 a bottle.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

If any of you are in the central Ky. area along about the third week in August, the south Oldham Rotary Club holds a Bourbon Tasting at the Yew Dell botanical gardens in Crestwood, Ky. Almost all of the major Ky. distillers are represented (I have been able to try most of those mentioned above.) You can sample as many and as often as you want. Some even provide a nice glass to keep. Usually about $70 with the proceeds going to Rotary charities. Hors dourves and live music along with an auction also. A great way to try many of Ky's premium bourbons all at one time in a beautiful setting. Had to miss this year, son was getting married here on the farm the next day. SWMBO was not particularly receptive to me missing the rehearsal.

You should also try the Bardstown Bourbon Festival. Not as laid back or serene by any means, and a bit more rowdy. Great music, great fun, great drink. All brands are represented, plenty of vendors booths, too.FarmerTom said:If any of you are in the central Ky. area along about the third week in August, the south Oldham Rotary Club holds a Bourbon Tasting at the Yew Dell botanical gardens in Crestwood, Ky. Another great event, albeit in the summer in Louisville, is the Bourbon, Blues and BBQ festival. We did not make that show, we were out of town. 4BQ is huge with big name artists and national competition in the pits.
Very cool place, and the bourbon ain't bad either."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Going basic compared to you brother @pgprescott!
How's that Willetts?? Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga -
Nothing wrong with KC. Strong runner. I'm a fan of the Willetts. First had it down in Nashville. Lots of good bourbon flowing in that town. Almost bought a bottle of Willetts rye down there and wish I hadbgebrent said:Going basic compared to you brother @pgprescott!

@pgprescott, I've yet to try it but now will! Thank you.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

For me it falls short of a handful of my favorites. It's a quality bottle though. Has a little bite to it. Pairs well with savory red meat or a nice cigar. Cheers.bgebrent said:@pgprescott, I've yet to try it but now will! Thank you.

Oops.
Big big bottle of KC. Big. Cork broke before I got to the bottom. Plan on finishing the story tonight. But I know how it ends.
LOL.
It's a 302 thing . . . -

Buckle down and get it done. Cheers. Broken cork indicates a night of reduced motor skills in your past adventures. -
My whole life, I'm either going too fast or too slow. You can debate which one, but it's a binary option.pgprescott said:HendersonTRKing said:Oops.

I believe 1 stipulation to be called bourbon is at least 50% corn. Woodford is my favorite.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

Woodford is "legit" 4Runner, no doubt.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

Pricey but good. Have found Evan Williams Single Barrel as a nice less expensive alternative.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

From all the suggestions on here I picked up some Woodford tonight.mits very nice. I see most people prefer it with a little ice. How do you drink yours? I like mine without.
-
Nice choice. Top shelf bourbon in anyone's eyes. I like either one ice sphere or a couple clear ice cubes. I can drink it neat as well, but I like the bit of chill and I feel the melting ice helps bring out the nuances in the booze. Kinda like letting a good bottle of red wine breathe. Enjoy the Woodford, one of my favorites.TrailRunner said:From all the suggestions on here I picked up some Woodford tonight.mits very nice. I see most people prefer it with a little ice.
