Basil Hayden is a strong runner. I also consider Blantons. Makers, Woodford, bookers all get a look. I need to take a look at the four roses amongst others.

@henapple- bourbon (even bottom shelf) deserves better than to be mentioned in any election thread or conversation.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Woodford is solid. Haven't had it in awhile. Last one I had was the Reserve Double Oaked. My recollection it was smooth with a nice finish.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Angel's Envy! Made by the maker of Woodford, same way, except he puts it port wine barrels for 6 months. OMG, one small spoon of water and it opens it up to unbelievable aromas
Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Sadly, bourbon and I have had to consciously uncouple. All Titos and wine now. Seems like every year I have to pull the ripcord on a perfectly good vice. Sucks getting old but I like the benefits that comes with having a wife so bourbon had to go.

Just tasted this at my liquor store, very good.
This has been my favorite sipping whiskey for quite a while, the rye gives it a very nice kick at the end:
Plus I usually have a bottle of Buffalo Trace or Bulleit for mixing up an Old Fashioned.LBGE

If you can find it, the batches are small and seldom get out of Kentucky, there is a mass producer called Ancient Age. Not great, but not totally bad either. They have a bourbon that has rested 20 years called Ancient Ancient Age Family Select. It is on par with some of the best made. The killer point is you can get this for less than $25.00 a bottle. This is a special release, once every couple of years I am told. The last time they did a market release, it was in a Waterford Crystal decanter, which each had a different crystal plug, making each set unique. They sold for about $75.00 a set. Folks were limited to two per purchase. MBW got two of them."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Makers. I know I'm a traitor being originally from Kentucky, but I really prefer a single malt Scotch.

I actually enjoyed the small batch better than the single barrel. That hasn't been the case for others, so I was a bit surprised.Col E. H. Taylor has not been mentioned yet. probably my favorite. Bottled in bond. The small batch, single barrel, straight rye are all excellent.

@bgebrent didn't really think about that. I guess that's where the outlaw party comes in. I guess Texas has enough going on.2-XLs ,MM,blackstone,Ooni koda 16,R&V works 8.5 gallon fryer, express smoker and 40" smoking cajun

F you @legume! I was trying to lay down a smoke screen to prevent that common knowledge from surfacing. That said, drink whatever you want. Best champagne is from champagne, France. Best bourbon is distilled in KY, hands down. And if you're a connoisseur, I've got some coming that is special. And it's not from Houston.
