    If we're talking about the world's list of preventable causes of unnatural death, I don't think any religious extremism scratches the surface.  55-60 million people die each year and you'd be surprised how many of those are from diarrhea, cars and cigarettes.

    It's a metaphor.  I really don't think he was trying to do anything beyond claiming that it will probably result in a lot of lives being lost.

    So, I'm assuming you "climate change" guys are riding bikes to work, living in a 20x20 quad with a solar generator. Also supporting the beef industry is a no no because their farts are going to burn the world. How big is your  (ugh) carbon footprint?

    Tony, I wish I had a Tesla but I can't afford it.  We have solar panels and high efficiency appliances, LED lights, as much insulation we can pack into a 1920s house.  There's a certain elegance to efficiency, and I'd rather pay to advance technology than burn more oil.  We should be making chemicals, plastics and lubricants with oil. Burning it for BTU content is a waste.  I don't think anyone disagrees with that, we're just between being dependent on it and (most) not being able to afford independence.  We're getting there.

    No, but I am doing research on carbon capture and storage technologies, CO2 sequestration, etc.  Hoping that rubes will come around to see the light anytime in the near future seems pretty hopeless.  Some of these folks would stay in their homes if 97 scientists pointed at a meteor in the sky and said there was a 95% chance it would strike their town, if only because there was a Newsweek article in 1970 that said global cooling was around the corner.

    Apparently my kids are oblivious to global warming because they leave every light and TV on. I try to conserve electricity merely out of finances. We recycle but I do drive a diesel drinking f-250. Global heating is directly related to Royal Oak burn off time....that's why I use OO
