@JohnInCarolina That’s a great pizza. I’m glad you’re having fun with your new toy. Roast some veggies or some butternut squash in it. It will change your life.

My neighbor's cat rules the neighborhood. He goes in the cat door of another neighbor and gets on the couch and hisses.  Eats the food. My dog and all other dogs are scared of him. He is J Giles. He.  Rules.

Sitting at a crowded restraunt.  Table next to us had finished and was enjoying some talking after the meal.  A guy who was waiting for a table seriously walked over from the waiting area and told the people he was waiting for their table! They apologized and left.

Man, I must be a jerk.  I would have told him to fvck off and ordered some more drinks.

I had a guy try to fight me once because some friends and I stayed at our table talking for a while after we finished eating. He had obviously been sitting at the bar for a while.

A safe bet would be that the server was quietly applauding.

Watching the (delayed) Winter Olympics ceremonies.  Damn it must be cold there, everyone's wrapped up tight, covering their faces, etc.

EDIT:  And the synchronized drone demo really blew me away!

Pretty sure he wasn't.  They hadn't even gotten their check back.  New table is very rude.

I hear you, but it’s very rude to sit and chat for any extended time at an extremely busy restaurant. I guess it’s the new Walmart American way “ I paid so I can do whatever I want!” Life is all about perspective and from this perspective, two parties were being done a disservice whilst one party, well, partied.

For the record, I would never actually do what was described, but would have likely smirked if I had witnessed it. Sorry.

As in most social settings, it's a location thing.  You gotta be there to accurately read the situation.

As we all know, servers and restaurateurs make [more] money on table turns.  OTOH, standing in a crowded bar space while others behave as though they're at home in their own great room . . . well, that can suck.

Things go much better when there are adults on both sides of social equations.

This king cake is near impossible to buy, and after trying it, I understand why the bakery won a James Beard award.

Table turns are important, but don't come to my table and tell me to leave unless you are the owner or work there. I tip 20% to 30%. They make more off my drinks than the food and after a hundo for two if I dilly dilly then that is my choice.  Its not an assembly line.

I will just agree to disagree on this point.  I shouldn't have to jump up as soon as my check arrives.

Gonna trim up this 8.75 lb monster tenderloin for tonight. The chain will go to burgers, and I may cut the head off and make as a separate small roast. Not sure yet.

To clarify, we found out it was a boy via ultrasound last night.  Due date this summer. I realized this morning that my wording could have been misleading.

As for paternity leave, I can use my vacation if I want.  Otherwise its unpaid.  I would love to see maternity (and possibly paternity) benefits get expanded.  But, for now, we'll make due.
