That sucks.  It's just stuff that can be replaced.  If you're lucky you'll get the stuff back and the thief will pay.

Sorry to see this happen to you. Hoping for the best. Getting stuff stolen is bead enough without them breaking into your home or office. I learned my lesson a few months back.
I have cable locked everything we have outdoors, and have locked down all my fences with locks bolt cutters can't cut.
Hoping it all works out for you.

@Focker the ones that have no exposed bolt to cut - usually the bolt is hidden/obscured by the lock.  It's a deterrent because it takes time, not because it can't be broken into.

    Thieves suck. They totally suck.

@DuckDogDr I had my house broken into 10 years ago while on my honeymoon. I think it was someone associated with supplying something for the wedding (think something like the dress shop, or tux rental, flowers, reception etc.....). who knew we were going to be away.  I say this because we live on a fairly secluded piece of property and they knew they would have time. They tossed the entire house.  Not one cabinet left closed and thrown on the floor, not one drawer not tossed. Not one thing left hanging in the closet. Shattered the flatscreens that they could not get off the walls and left the fridge and freezer doors open for I do not know how long. Scraping dried ice cream off the floor sucks, not to mention the sentimental items which were taken. Not being allowed to go in the house for the first time coming home without the police was not the most romantic either.  30k claim total and another week from work to clean things up.  The only area they did not go was the garage. At least they left the cars alone.

I feel for you. The feeling of violation did not go away for a long time and still rears it head once in a while.

This reminds me that I want to upgrade my security again. Been putting it off about a year. Looking for a a good wireless set of cameras I can put in a few locations.  Maybe I will research that today.

The "bolt" part of the lock is shaped differently than the typical round smooth bolts most locks have. It is designed to minimize friction at contact point of the cutters, creating a slip forcing the blades to slide off the surface to either side. Or that was at least the marketing BS that was applied. I saw the demo at Lowe's using a bolt cutter from their inventory, and even tried it myself. On that day, it did what they claimed. I bought two. It may be possible to do, but it will take them a while to do it.

Yeah they usually have to use a grinder. Very noisy and takes a while. Good deterrent.

If they would go through that to get to my stuff to steal it, and are able to get away without my neighbors and I (ex military trigger pullers who watch each other's property, a pact we put together after our incident, which by the way we recovered nicely) they win. Otherwise, not so much.
The locks, are really for the thieves protection, not the property.

Thanks for all the encouraging words..
my question is the organization liable for not properly vetting their employees... And let me be clear I'm not after them for pain and suffering yada yada.
My thoughts are if I'm going to donate about 1500 worth of materials and then your employees come rob me... I would like to give the monetary equivalent to someone that will appreciate it such as the local animal shelter.

More about out principal at this point

Good visit.  VaTech is a cool place.  Lot of history here.

I actually agree with you John. I have a friend I met years ago that gives lectures up there on the revolutionary and civil wars (although I'm guessing those are taboo topics with the circles you run in) .

About to make a BLT out of the Benton's Bacon that @bgebrent gave me. Seriously the best bacon I've ever had. I don't think I will be able to go back to grocery store bought.

Egg roasted veg for dinner tonight (there were chicken thighs earlier, but the boys ate them all and left us with the vegetarian option).
