@YukonRon I'm going to be cooking Sunday night.  If that works for you, otherwise we'll try to hook up for a drink or 10.  You got my number.  Hang in there brother.

@nolaegghead, we will try to shake loose from everyone, but, depends on Suzy, and how she is handling everything. She was holding it together until we got here, but I think the finality of it all is kicking in.
Thank you for everything, means more than I can express in words displayed here.
    You are the best.

Just got to New Orleans, for the memorial service for my Brother in Law.
My Beautiful Wife is amazing, dealing with everything in the last 4 months, losing both her mother and brother. I don't know how she does it.
I will be doing the eulogy, and as his love was the sea, he will be buried there.
He was a chef, a tug boat Captain, and loved New Orleans. He was my closest friend. He was very kind to me, at a time I was not worthy. I married his sister after dang near stalking her, for 4 years. He welcomed me as his brother. I can never thank him enough.
My life has been better knowing him.
Please keep Suzy in your thoughts the next couple of days.
    Thanks to all.

Ron, I hope to have someone as eloquent as you speak for me when I pass.

Please send my condolences to your wife.
Thank you for the kind words, will do.

Anyone want to start a men's march?   ;)

So I call Comcast this afternoon as my two year contract with them was ending. My current contract with Comcast was $69.99mo for "Blast" high speed internet. The Comcast representative tells me that their best deal is $74.99mo for high speed internet. I have him explain the package. It turns out this "package" is half of what I currently get. My exact quote, "So you're telling me that if I spend $5 more I get half of what I currently have?" Are you kidding me? That's ridiculous. He than says I could get the same package I currently have for $20 more a month. Seriously? You can't even make this stuff up. I said I'm going elsewhere.

My wife calls two minutes later. We get the "Blast Pro" (upgrade) high speed internet with free HBO for a year. $69.99mo.

    I hate you Comcast!
    @WeberWho
My SIL just went through this with Comcast.  She was trying to reduce down to Internet only and it was going to be 79 a month.  (she was paying 89 a month for internet AND a TV package).  I sent her a pic of my last bill (35bucks a month for high speed cable internet from comcast) and she was able to negotiate down to something in the 40s per month.  Those people are ridiculous!

@kl8ton Score! I'd love to get it down that low. We were paying $50 but the second year of the contract went up to $70. They now want $95. When talking to Comcast a few weeks ago they said they don't sell high speed internet alone anymore and that I'd have to bundle it with a cable package. I told them I don't want cable. It's such a scam. More less a monopoly.

Not the fastest Internet, but fast enough for me.  No problem streaming HD Amazon Prime or Hulu.

@kl8ton I'd be completely happy with that! Have you ever considered getting your own modem? We bought our own so we don't have to rent there's. Modems are pretty cheap and will save you in the long run

ATT fiber was installed in our neighborhood over the past few days. It's supposed to be $70/month for Gig service. I pay $93 for 13x slower service. Comcast is the worst...

I rent.  Modem is their problem.  I used to be a full time IT guy.  I have had way to many customers down because of a lightning strike taking out the cable modem (even if they were plugged in to expensive surge protectors for cable and power).  Also, if the customer owned their modem, Comcast would tend to blame any issue on the customer's modem.  My recommendation is to always rent.  Where I am right now, the modem has been replaced by comcast 3 times.  I do really dislike all the junk in their modems as far as security, wifi, etc.  I want to use my own equipment for that.  All i want from them is a pipe to the net.

Nikkor 500 f4, pre-VR (image stabilizing).  VR doesn't make sense on a lens this big, I'll be shooting from a tripod only with this puppy.

EDIT:  And I just realized I borrowed a photo off the 'net of a VR model, dangit.  I got a used 500 f4 EDIF AF-S II.

I gripe a bit about living in utard, but Yellowstone is 4 hours to the north, Glacier a bit further, all the utard Nat'l Parks 4 hours to the south, and mulies in my backyard again last night (fresh snow w/tracks).  Life is good.   :)

All wood smoke.  Starts today's food yesterday.

    Had smoked chex mix.  Delicious.

Tried pulled chicken, brisket, ribs, wings, pulled pork, mashed potatoes, cornbread, pork and beans, slaw, pickles, white Alabama sauce, Memphis sauce, Kentucky dark sauce,  and a spicy sauce.  All good.  Chef Len is a purist.

Relaxing with a beer and watching the Rolex 24hrs at Daytona.  Beautiful cars!

@nolaegghead , I remember a post a while back where you were part of a race team and put a car out.  You doing that again anytime soon?  Cheers!
