We took in another foster child this weekend too. We've been asked for about a month straight as they looked for a home for him.  So we're back to 8 kids.  He's fitting in well.  He's 12. I have a 12 and 13 year old boy already. He's another one to play catch, shoot hoops with etc. He basically came with nothing.  Kind of sad.  Permanent ward.  2.5 years in the system and counting.  I think he'll be here a while.  I think we'll go bike shopping for him.  Hopefully supply shortages are over on those.

Larry Mixon has a new book out about keto grilling. He gives several recipes for rubs, sauces and sides using monk fruit sweetener. Anyhow I bought the book then some sweetener to try it out.

This small brisket hit 185 internal in 7 hours.  To be safe I took it off knowing we were going to be gone for 4 hours.  Dome and grid stayedd steady at 275 for the entire cook. It's in the fridge.  I'll bring it up to temp in the oven in a couple days.   We left to take a hike around a lake in the middle of high society with the kids followed by a nice meal, caronas and a Woodford old fashioned .

Homes gutted to the studs that are across the street from houses on this lake are around a 2 mil ask. It's 90 degrees.  Kids were not amused.

Trying to find the best way to break into my truck. I've officially broken my driver's door handle again and my passenger door handle is unhinged and not connected to anything internally. So I'm completely locked out. I guess I'm not necessarily locked out as I can lock/unlock the door but I have no way of opening the doors from the outside.

My best guess is that I'll need a couple air wedges and a reach tool to grab the door handle from inside. I can't wait for all the fun tomorrow.

If we have any professional car thief's here I'm all ears if there are any better options....

A towel and a flat bladed screw driver.  Wedge the top of the door open with the screw driver, use the towel to limit paint damage, enough to stick a wire through with a loop, or a hook on the end.  You may damage the weather stripping.  You should be able to hook the interior door latch release and.open the truck.

It crossed my mind. I'm hoping that's the last option. Not so much that I couldn't find a replacement window but having to go and get a single window tinted by a tint shop seems like the biggest hassle.

It's an old beater Ford Ranger. I'm good at not getting into my vehicles. A few months back I was early to work and pulled the keys from the ignition and stupidly set them on the passengers seat while waiting to go into work. I jumped out of the truck and locked it forgetting I set the keys on the passenger seat. I had an officer come out and brag how he was going to unlock my truck in under 12 seconds. It took 3 officers and almost 20 minutes to unlock it. (Hence the reason my passengers door internal mechanism is out of it's bracket. The officer somehow unhooked it while using his slim Jim. Not a big deal as I just need to take the door apart and get it pressed back in its bracket. Just wish I would have done it earlier so I'd have a door to go through to unlock the driver's side one now.) I shouldn't have too much of a problem as it's not my lock but just the door handle itself. I just need to get a reach tool inside it. Hopefully it's that easy anyway.

They are fairly easy.  I have never had luck with slim jims.  Plus most non-ancient cars have internals shielded from basic slim jim attacks.  I have always had the most luck wedging top of door open enough to get a tool into cab.  I have locked myself out of most every car and house I have ever owned.  Getting in is usually not too hard.

If you go the window route the windshield is often the cheapest.  Our Home Depot sells air wedges on a end display.  I watched a few youtube videos, for future reference if the hand is working you can unscrew the antenna, and pop the lock up through the door handle.
      Good luck

Good for you! My cousin and her husband fostered 40 some kids over their lives, and adopted four of those in addition to their own two. After our own one, we swore to never do it again. Such lightweights compared to you. You must be made of special stuff to deal with their issues and come out of your bedroom each morning. If only people weren't making them faster than good foster parents could turn up.

Hey thanks. I also ran into a couple videos with that same trick. I can't believe how easy that is to unlock the truck through the door handle. I wish I would have found those videos earlier. The town where I work doesn't charge you anything to have an officer come out and open it for you. I just hate wasting their time and something so stupid. That's an easy fix.

I hope you enjoyed your tours in both countries.  Naturally @JohnInCarolina will question the integrity of your roof, and, alignment of your teeth from this point forward as you have set foot in the UK.

Indulge me with your high & low lights of the seat of empire, and, the land of the cheese eaters.

I can give you my impressions, London is cold in December and your most vaunted restraunts will not take reservations for 1.  Shake Shack in London was real good though.

The name of the air wedges say it all. They came in handy.

A coupe bends on some rod stock and I have an open door.

I even have a OEM door handle laying around for a replacement. Nice when things go right.
Nice!  Love those airbags.  Sure beat my screwdriver and towel.

I now have two functioning doors on the truck. My reward....cutting the yard as I've been away the last 4-5 days. It sure beats going into work today though. So there's that. The silver lining if I look at it that way.

The dog kept watching from the window of the house when working on the truck doors. He thinks he's going for a ride. So I better take him for a ride at some point as he's tried to get out of the house every time when I've entered to go jump up in the truck for a ride.
