Three days ago I got my 6-month rent check from some Minnesota farmland I inherited.
Two days ago I chipped a back tooth.  On a G*^D&!n potato chip.
Yesterday my dentist told me I'd shattered one end of a bridge.  No coverage from BCBSF.  Replacement scheduled.
Also yesterday, when I got home from the dentist, I dejectedly plopped into my recliner.  And the bottom broke out.  New f*(%^! recliner.
    Eff me.
    Sadness!

I drink cheap beer so I can afford good bourbon.

What kind of crop are they growing on your land @botch
No idea, I haven't even seen it.  From the area, it's probably corn or soybeans, with the occasional alfalfa/grass rest.
The taxed value of the land is ~$500K, split between me and my only sister.  She doesn't want to sell, so I guess I'll settle for a rent payment that covers my dental care, an occasional piece of furniture, and (last year) an iPad.   :/

Farm ground around here goes for  $200-300 a acre per year. I know Minnesota grows good crops.

Few new tools, a plastic cart.  Bolting cabinet space to a couple metal table frames.  At the very beginning.

Actively trying not to quit my job.  Feel like that flight attendant who pulled the emergency release and exited via the inflatable ramp with a beer in one hand and the middle finger raised with the other.
I can recommend packing it in and doing something else.

Assembling powerpoint slides for a committee meeting tomorrow.  I am set to take over as the chair for the institution's conflict-of-interest committee, effective in July.  I'm pretty sure they're not paying me enough for this...
Sounds right to me, you’re pretty good at getting conflicts started.
Touche, but this requires the exact opposite skill, which is the ability to diffuse things when tension runs high.  It is often an exercise in restraint for me ;)
From my experience Belgian Malinois do a pretty good job at diffusing high tension situations. One way or another.
    You have a Maligator?
No, I have a very domesticated German Shepard that is scared of his shadow, but my agency uses them and they are amazing.

was denied home insurance because they spied my german shepard in the yard years ago. i told them the dog was a belgian malinois and everything went fine. not on the bad dog list here. for all i know he could have been malinois. blonde with a black nose.  never bit anyone but occasionally he was good for a power  tackle and you were going down

    Hahaha.

Nice addition of CCR's "Fortunate Son" there coming in at the end.  Interesting to compare that time when the song came out to now.  In 1969, we had close to half a million American troops in Vietnam.

The 5 letter shipping company strikes again.  Check out the directions on the Rockwood carton:

That is how I found it at the front door!  It's at least an extra 75' hike to the front door.  Musta been looking for ways to get in some additional exercise.

Unless it pops up on their little scanny tool, I assume they ignore all other markings.  Be thankful it was delivered to your house.  My last important package was delivered to the neighbor a quarter mile away.  I found it because they left my neighbors package at my house as a clue.

  • Yep, I’m the third house East from a corner. The third house north of that corner and I have the same street number though different named streets. I’ve walked that 6 house walk many a time forwarding their cr@p.

ups just delivers my stuff next door. the house has been abandoned since 1989. all the driver has to do is walk down hill about 75 feet thru an unplowed driveway, step over a chain blocking entry with a no trespassing sign and put the package next to the door  usps is not so kind, im the last mailbox on the street, it gets packed with a streets worth of mail

  • Spent an hour trying to recover an accidentally deleted git repo…… due to the nature of the tool that deleted the repo, unrecoverable by normal practices.  Hadn’t pushed since Monday, so do it over I guess.  Bad news, the developed software was stable and worked, good news, I had hacked in a bunch of changes that needed refactored anyways, just more work than previously planned.

I'm not sure about the roasting but are those Christmas lights? My goodness. Who cares about the beer if you're still hanging Christmas lights.

Currently working on merging logins on the states behemoth database site.  I use it for my license plate tab renewals for my personal vehicles.  They are wanting citizens to have one login, so the other side of things I need access to for permitting construction projects, licensing, etc. will become one central login with "different" apps inside.  So far, no good.

The concept is ok, the execution is not that great.  Most employees at the state are still virtual as well - they are giving me other employees cell phone numbers if I need help with this and that.

At least they have easy to remember acronyms.

Michigan Environmental Health and Drinking Water Information system is affectionately known as MiEHDWIS (MY EDDY WISE is how they pronounce it).

Edit:  There is just going to be issues when the same system has State Employee time punches on it AND vehicle renewals AND 1500 other departments information.
I spend my waning workdays supporting the users of some of our environmental reporting applications on our giant@ss database site. There’s nothing better for sharpening your mind reading skills and patience than old folks and people too important to be doing this.

No sir, they are not Christmas lights. They make my wife happy. If she is happy, there is a greater chance of me being happy.

Wells Fargo messed up my first mortgage like 15 years ago with their rediculous paper work and dragging their feet.  Almost lost the short sale I was buying and had to find a new agent who could close a mortgage in like 15 days because Wells Fargo squandered away the first 30 days close, the 30 day extension and was 1/2 way through the third before I had enough.  Worst part was the payment was less than my car note was.  That place is pretty horrid

Trying to straighten the forks.  Measure, remove, grind, reinstall, measure, repeat.  Got home soaking from this 72F 90% humidity winter weather.
